Resolved Question: How to find acting auditions without an agent in LA?
Well, a few days ago I asked this question: Okay, I'm without a doubt committed and want to make it all the way with my acting career. And I want to visit LA during summer or some soon time to do some real work. I'm not in it for fame or money I'm in it because I love it and its all I know and love, lots of people before I even thought about acting have told me that I should be and actress, with personality, the ability to change character and the ability to cry on the spot, I too believe I can make it. I love this craft. And I have local experience but not a whole lot (I have a few plays from school and local playhouses.) And when I go to LA I need to know where to find out about these commercial and movie auditions, I mean I know that I won't get a star role in a movie the first week i'm in LA but I want to be mega busy with auditions so I won't have anything else to think about. I want other sources besides web sights, like is there a local paper that has auditions? For example when Dakota Fanning was in LA and got her first job in a tide commercial, how did she find out about that job? Ya get my drift? tehe! thanks for listening. Additional Details And I know that It is slow in summer and that I'm not gonna have too many auditions cause that would be perfect to have soo many auditions to go to, but I just want to be as close to perfect as posible, you see? I know that It takes awhile, and it would be great if people gave me a strait answer instead of stuff like " its not as easy as you think....." cause I know its not. thanks! And I foun out a couple of websites from one answer and I would like to know about other resorses besides websites. Please answer! thanks! moreResolved Question: HUH???????? but how?

Prediction one. The twenty-five-year equities bubble pops in 2009. U.S. and foreign equities markets will stop treading water and realign with economic reality. Stock prices will cease to reflect the “greater fool” mentality and will return to being a function of dividend yields, which have long been miserable. The S&P 500 will sink below 500. In a bid to stem the panic, the government will enforce periodic “stock market holidays”, and will vastly expand the scope of its short-selling prohibitions—eventually banning short-selling altogether. Prediction two. With public pension systems and tens of millions of 401k holders virtually wiped out—and with the Baby Boomers retiring en masse—there will be tremendous pressure on the government to get into the stock market in order to bid up prices. Therefore, sometime in 2010, the Federal Reserve will create and loan out hundreds of billions of fresh dollars to the usual well-connected suspects, instructing them to buy up stocks on the public’s behalf. This scheme will have a fancy but meaningless name—something like the “Taxpayer Assurance Equities Facility”. It will have no effect other than to serve as buyer of last resort for capitulating smart-money types who want to get out of stocks entirely. Prediction three. Millions of new retirees—including white-collar people with high expectations for a Golden Retirement—will be left virtually penniless. Thousands will starve or freeze to death in their own homes. Hundreds of thousands will find themselves evicted and homeless, or will have to move in with their less-than-enthusiastic children. Already strained by the rising tide of the working-age unemployed, state and local welfare services will be overwhelmed, and by 2012 will have largely collapsed and ceased to function in many parts of the country. Prediction four. “Quantitative easing” will fail to restart previous patterns of lending and consumption. As the government sends out additional “rebate” checks and takes ever-more drastic measures to force banks to lend, hyperinflation could take hold. However, comprehensive debt relief via a devaluation of the dollar is even more likely. This would entail the government issuing one “new” dollar for some greater number of “old” dollars—thus reducing both debts and savings simultaneously. This would make for a clean slate a la Fight Club. As there are many more debtors than savers in the U.S., the vast majority would support devaluation. The Chinese and other foreign holders of our bonds would be screaming mad, but unable to do anything. Every country that has not found a way out of dollar-denominated reserve assets by 2012 will see its reserves eliminated. Prediction five. The government will stop pretending that it can finance continuous multi-trillion-dollar deficits on the private market. By late 2010, the sole buyers of new U.S. Treasury and agency bonds will be the Federal Reserve and a few derelict financial institutions under government control. This may or may not lead to hyperinflation. (See prediction four). Prediction six. As the need for financial industry paper-pushers declines and people have less money to spend on lawyers and Starbucks (SBUX), unemployment will rise until the private sector has eliminated all of its excess capacity and superfluous or socially needless jobs. The government’s narrow unemployment figure (U3) will rise into the high teens by late 2010. The government’s broader unemployment figure (U6) will cease to be reported when it reaches 25 percent—it will simply be too embarrassing. Ultimately, one in three work-eligible Americans will be unemployed, underemployed, or never-employed (e.g. college grads permanently unable to find suitable work). Prediction seven. With their pension dreams squashed, and their salaries frozen or cut, police and other local government workers will turn to wholesale corruption in order to survive. Article on Seeking Alpha +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I hate to be a downer, but how on earth are we ever going to get out of the national debt. BHO added ~$2trillion this year. That is four times Bush's worst deficit. He isn't NEO. He isn't the one. He is speeding up the demise of the USA. Is it in the name of reparation? This is NOT hope or change it is more of the same with a greater magnitude. moreVoting Question: Who knows how to answer a question involving cosine?

**Three years ago I saw a sculpture in a local museum. A question led me to ponder it again today. I was inspired by it and have been wanting to write about it since I saw it. Today I was compelled. Don't know if it will hurt or help the poem, but a picture of the sculpture is at the bottom.** She embarked on an ocean journey thousands of miles from her home of - not a home. Ventured - defenseless into a dangerous sea. Underwater, ability to breathe lost - became inessential. Just speed just to get there somewhere. She threw off the confines of mankind. Schools of fish swarmed around her naked body as she astutely became one of the formerly foreign creatures. Mastered taking oxygen from the water, learned hidden enemies in the coral reefs befriended lions of water, turtles with gills, men-of-rays. Swimming, floating, coasting with every drift forgetting her destination and settling where ebbs and tides left her. One doomed day the cognizance of her humanity grabbed a hold of her neck strangled recognition back into her. The sea - which once encouraged - ate her. Devoured her. Corpus delicti left at the bottom to decay like a shipwrecked victim. http://www.carolcohen.com/graphics/cc_swimmer.jpg Yes, it's a draft of a poem - I post them here often to get input so I can edit them later. Thanks for your comment. I do believe it ends rather abruptly ... I'm going to work on that. Thanks! moreResolved Question: The water at a local beach has an average depth of 1 metre at low tide...?

.....Zola the Gorgon..... In a far off sea, in a time I can’t remember, but it was certainly more than twenty years ago, lived a socially deprived mermaid of a tender age. As was the custom of the time and place, daughters born not into wedlock of the maternal mother, were subject to verbal, mental and physical abuse. Such was the case of this marginalised, socially deprived and age disadvantaged mermaid of the female gender who went by the given name of Zola the Gorgon. Such was the disadvantages of this lonely mermaid that she was left to do the menial housework of the family and such was her lowly position in the family hierarchy that the only creatures that conversed with her were the kitchen vermin. At no time should the reader imagine that the kitchen vermin were anything other than squid and sea snakes. If this story had been about a modern time then the mermaid would have been put into care, for even the thickest of people would realise that to talk to a squid is one thing but to expect a reply is something else. One day the wicked step mother (this is pre-proposing the idea that all stepmothers are wicked) was reading the court circular in the Ocean Times when she noticed that the number one son of King Neptune of the undersea realm was giving a swim ball and that the stepmother and daughters were invited. Full of glee at this request from the prince, (forgetting that he was a representative of the bourgeois society that made her a widow) went to tell her daughters of the invitation. Of course, Zola was not invited as she was base line proletariat and would not fit in with the general theme of things. It was the duty of young Zola as she was called, to produce the dresses for her siblings and stepmother. Being nimble of the digital extremities she soon had the dresses and accompanying undergarments finished. The other sisters tried on the dresses and Zola exclaimed, “Oh siblings of disadvantaged looks and facial disfigurement, the dresses suit you, they are gaudy and without taste.” As the other sisters were educationally disadvantaged they did not understand the jibe and said thank you for her kind words. When the family departed for the swim ball Zola was left alone to weep but was consoled when a fairy godfish appeared and said “Zola you will go to the swim ball.” With a flick of her magic wand Zola was on her way to the swim ball complete with glass slipper on her tail. She wore the slipper even though she had been warned by the local Health and Safety Executive (glass slipper division) not to do so. She swam all night with dashing young mermen, not the prince, as he was also swimming with the dashing young mermen. At the stroke of high tide the spell was broken and Zola reverted back into being a common char maid. None of the young mermen noticed, as they were more interested in the prince. However, the most disappointing part of the ending is that Zola had to swim home as the glass submarine that is usually featured in this story had gone and it was a dickens of a long way back home. Footnote (or fin note) Zola was not injured in any way by the glass slipper or the glass submarine and the Health and Safety Committee thought it in bad taste to prosecute due to her long swim home. With apologies to Cinderella ***I think it is great, as everything this friend of mine writes...very talented! I am American but I've lived in a foreign country for the past 5 years. I have been doing freelance work on the internet for US companies. However now the economy has dried up and there seem to be no more jobs for me. I can not find legal work in the country I am in. I have enough money to fly back home, but I have nowhere to go. I have not talked to my family for 12 years (they were very bad people and I got away from them as soon as I could). I have travelled around most of my life and do not have many close friends- none in the country I am in now (can't trust the locals and the foreigners like me are very transient). I can't afford to go back to NY where I lived last. I can go to a smaller town and live in a hostel and try to find any old job to tide me over, but from what I hear there are no jobs at all and I am very overqualified due to my technical specialty. So I am afraid I will spend all my money getting set up and then have nothing, and no one to help me. Which is where I am now, but at least I have a little savings now (enough to last a few months). I feel very very alone. I am 30 and good looking but have zero love prospects. Things were ok until recently and it feels like I lost everything at once. I don't really know what to do- I can't follow the usual advice of counselling (nonexistent here) or government assistance (not really even existent in the US)... any tips on what you would do appreciated. I do feel suicidal but I know that is not the answer and I am far too wimpy to do it anyway. Thanks for reading. PS I am female, and I am living in Thailand. I do not have a degree so it is not likely I can even find English teaching work here at this time (it's required to work legally). I am looking for jobs in just about everything but no luck so far. By the way, Asia is in just as bad a position economically as the rest of the world now. But thanks for the tips anyway.... And sorry, God is not the answer for me. I am glad that works for some people but I am agnostic. Thanks moreVoting Question: Can you try to make this in your own words plsss???? :(?
The kind of waves which surfers look for are known as breaking waves. Breaking waves are defined as those waves whose shape and quality is influenced by different determinants. The factors which influence the shape and quality of breaking waves include the bathymetry of the surf break, the direction of the swell, the size of the swell, the direction of the wind, the strength of the wind, the ebb of the tide and the flow of the tide. The swell is defined as that which is generated when the wind blows at a consistent speed over a large area of open sea water. This is called the fetch of the wind. The size of a swell is subjective to some factors such as the strength of the wind, the length of the fetch of the wind and the duration of the swell. The local wind conditions also affect the quality of the wind. moreVoting Question: does anyone actually know anything about mrsa on here?

How do you like my poem?
About a battle I will sing As arrows fly and shields yet ring And spells of magic work their might Upon the foes whom we shall smite It began today; our company heard That dirty orcs would try to curd The milk the flows from a sacred cow Belonging to folk in Glaspenscow The residents are vegetarian Their industry is all agrarian But anyhow they do drink milk And fear spoilage by monster ilk We were in town and heard the need And named ourselves to do the deed Of slaying the orcs and whatever kin That they may call to save their skin Anon, at once, we borrowed horses And left the town by river courses We came upon some smelly camps And, nearing them, we doused our lamps For long past noon we'd been unaware Of chance to do what we would dare So when their fires first met our sight The sun had set, and it was night Our caution spoke; we sent our scout To assess the foe, and scope them out For it would not do to engage and rumble A thousand orcs in rough-and-tumble Dreg Corban dismounted and sallied forth The camps were east, but he went north Then circled 'round to count the foe 'Cause, things like that are good to know When he returned we thought it best To slay the orcs who chased him west For while our scout was busy sneaking Three enemies had caught him peeking The three who chased had guessed him sport A passer-by of the human sort A casual lone and local smarty And not vanguard of a larger party As Dreg climbed back upon his horse Thane Boulder expressed profound remorse That the orcs had carried so little gold And that their pockets were lined with mould When Thane jumped on his mighty beast We armed ourselves and headed east While Laundra Loren chanted spells Like "Mystic Shield" and "Jingle Bells" Our bard played tempo for the Druid They sang with voices soft and fluid A roundelay that all should know: "The Lay of Feather Valli Lowe" That's my name: a dwarf whose ear Was maimed by orcs in yesteryear And in a year my reputation For killing orcs surprised the nation Just then we spied him, a dirty orc Near a cook-fire, eating pork Laundra Loren, with her bow Shot at him and laid him low His dying scream awoke the dozens Of hairy, dark, and heinous cousins Who poured ant-like out of tents And dared to give us more offense "Because you killed our brother, Clops We'll turn you into steaks and chops," One said, and therewith drew his axe And then they charged us with attacks! At first my friends were sore beset As we the orcs in battle met A blow caught Dreg in armor joints And took from him five damage points We fought back with our flashing swords And songs of awful magic chords Yea, as I sing we're fighting now For the safety of a milking cow A huge orc swings his blade at me I drop and roll to save HP My hatchet cleaves him in the head And down he goes, so quickly dead By diligence, we turned the tide Far more of them than us has died The last two orcs, they tried to run Dreg knocked one down with a blow gun The other hid inside a bush But was betrayed by his own tush While searching 'round, Dreg heard him fart And clobbered him, too, with a dart We won the battle; we danced and sang Our arrows flew; our shields had rang We merrily sing and chant and revel 'Cause each of us will rise a level On our return to Glaspenscow We found the town without a cow The folk were lunching near a lake All carving ribs and eating steak! They'd had no faith in our prowess And ate their cow to have one less Mouth to feed on the golden wheat Besides, everyone has a taste for meat. Lots of smog in Metro Manila, some of their rivers are so polluted you can see garbage covering at least half the surface area of the river, not to mention what lies underneath the water! Locals tell me, the fish are all killed off by massive pollution in the river. Temperatures in Tagbilaran, Corella, Carmen, Chocolate Hills etc. Bohol Philippines, Panglao Island, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines ( Cebu City "Great Place"), Metro Manila, Tagaytay ( active Volcanoe surrounded by a lake ) etc. in the Philippines was around 24 to 29 degrees Celsius, 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, locals tell me it was cooler than normal for January. Also sea levels seemed normal for high, low tide etc.. Chocolate Hills were under sea level 3,000,000 years ago, hills of limestone, so big deal scientists claim global warming will cause a rise of sea level by 7 meters, still that rise in sea level is still low compared to when the sea level was much higher in the Chocolate Hills 3 million years before. It is normal for the earth to go through drastic changes, over many years, that is history. Yes pollution is bad, and should be rectified. Just like a fortune teller or scientist if they predict something right it would be coincidence, however scientists know that the earth has gone through drastic changes in the past, and know history will repeat, this is what they are banking on. Sure the world have disasters in the near future, but people cannot make these disasters or stop them. I am back in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, there isn't global warming here either, it sure was nice in the Philippines, but here in Winnipeg it is as cold as ussual. Is GCC why Broad beach in Malibu, California isn’t broad anymore? “ … one of Malibu's most beautiful beaches now resembles a battlefield of makeshift bunkers” as wealthy homeowners increasingly seek to protect their beachfront and homes. Trucking in sand and building walls isn’t carbon-friendly, and imported sand eventually gets swept away, while the fortification of shoreline with concrete or boulders often accelerates sand erosion. The natural flow of sand to replenish beaches has diminished, as rivers and streams have been dammed and lined with concrete to direct sediment-laden flood waters safely out to sea. From the link below: "Depending on the slope of the beach, every inch of sea-level rise claims an average of 50 inches of land. That makes the long-term prospects for California's signature beaches less than promising, as they are caught between the encroaching sea and increasingly fortified oceanfront development." Is it time to abandon the fight to save our sandy beaches and focus monies elsewhere? Waves and tides gnawing at the land would turn back-beach dunes, cliffs and hillsides into beaches of the future. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-beach31-2008dec31,0,7928541.story moreResolved Question: Coinstar machine - getting rid of my coppers?

Just wondered what peoples views are on the following. Two years ago, I was forced to move back home with my parents because at 32, I decided to go back to college and do a television production course. I passed the course and now - like a lot of people in the UK and around the world - am having difficulty getting a decent job. I still have the job I had to tide me over at college - which is a measly 15 hours per week - 3 hours a night Monday to Friday. I must admit that during the day, I have got myself into a rut becoming quite lazy but there are other issues: I inherited a sum of money last year which will mature next November and at that point, I will be in the fortunate position of being able to buy my own house - but till then I'm in limbo. In June this year, I moved with my parents from a largeish house to a bungalow - but I dont know if I'm describing this properly, but the rooms are off rooms - so you have to walk thru the living room to the room this computer is - I am grateful for the roof over my head and at the end of the day, it is my parents home - not mine - but they are always there and it drives me feckin crazy. Today, my mum asked me to apply for a full time job in the local government centre where she works. To me it would be totally soul destroying and I am not prepared to apply for it. Because of this she says I have to move out. Earlier this year, I was going out with someone and say, if my Mum woke up at 3am and saw I wasnt there or the car wasnt outside, she would ring up and cause a scene down the phone with my girlfriend next to me. Just wondered if others have had these experiences, what your thoughts are and whether you think I am being unreasonable because I have changed into someone who is quite nasty - not violent - towards my folks. moreResolved Question: Who Will Win Football Games This Weekend?

This is my essay which I've just completed. Please correct my faults if you can and give me your opinion. Thank so much ! TOPIC: HOW MANY TYPES OF ADVERTISING ARE THERE? PRESENT THE FEATURES AND EXAMPLES OF EACH TYPE. ANALYZE THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THEM. Nowadays, almost companies can’t lack advertising to introduce their products or services to market. There are many types of advertising. Each type has different role and appropriateness. So, this essay will focus on three types in three paragraphs. Introducing about print advertising in the first paragraph; and then, introducing mass media advertising in the second paragraph; and finally, introducing outdoor advertising in the third paragraph. Today, advertising products via print media is a common practice. The print media include all newspapers, newsletters, magazines, booklets, pamphlets, and other printed publications. The role of print advertising is to offers basic information about the company, their products or services to the selected audiences. Most print media are local. Magazines, on the other hand, have always been national, although there is a trend today toward localization and specialization. There are a huge amount newspapers and magazines are published everyday. But only some types tend to a particular group people. For examples, sporty newspapers are written for men, teenage magazines for teenagers, etc. Therefore, select the right type of newspapers or magazines is important decision of the company, which may reach larger selected audiences. According to a statistic, in Vietnam, at present, there are about 600 newspapers and magazines. Almost companies, which are operating in Vietnam, are advertising via print media; for examples, Vinamilk, FPT, Honda, etc. Mass media advertising is popular most and impact in people’s awareness of the companies and their products. This type includes TV, radio and internet. Mass media advertising is more than simply persuasive messages. Through text and through images, the ad conveys values and beliefs, and these have meanings for those who read, listen or watch them. In this type, cost is the main obstacle for companies which want to advertise on TV. Moreover, just as print ad, mass media ad also has many channels tend to many different objects. Consequently, if the company advertises with reasonable duration and right channel, the company will not waste more money and their advertising still effective. Due to the great role of mass media in the life, nowadays, there are many companies use mass media for their main publicity. For instance, Unilever present their products as OMO and Comfort, P&G with Tide and Downy, etc. Outdoor advertising, one of the oldest and most enduring forms of advertising, is advertising on signs that are located outdoors in public places. This form includes billboards, trade fairs, sporting evens, etc. Outdoor advertising captures the viewer's attention 24 hours a day. True, it has limited coverage. But a well-planned outdoor campaign can effectively cover most major markets. The main features of this type are brevity of the message and cannot target customer. So, the message usually is slogan of the company, such as Canon Corporation with the slogan is “Delighting you always” or Toyota with sentence “Moving forward”, etc. In short, using which types and using on which time is important decision of the company. In my opinion, with carefully choosing, the company can get what they need from all the variable advertisements moreResolved Question: who do you report a world record great white shark to?

Please. Please. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Climate Changes Affecting Us Scientists predict that the world's average temperatures will rise from between 1C and 5C in the next century as a result of damaging greenhouse gas emissions. The prospect: more severe storms and floods, more droughts and more deserts. Scientists say Africa's highest mountain Kilimanjaro has lost 85% of its ice cap over the past 100 years and Britain's chief scientific advisor David King says, "Africa is the most vulnerable continent to climate change". Well, because of global warming the temperature is increasing which is causing Antarctica to melt which leads to sea levels rising about 100m. Even if Antarctica doesn't melt, water is expanding causing coastlines to flood. Eventually the earth will not have coastlines to flood because the land will be gone. Our climate is warming, in large part due to human production of greenhouse gases, and as a consequence, the environment is changing. We are expecting and already seeing: sea levels rising, weather shifting, ice melting, wildlife migrating, rain and drought patterns changing. We fear: migration of diseases, battles over changing resources, and increases in weather-related calamities. The imminent climate consequences of human actions will have a relatively small effect on U.S. residents. It's ironic: We produce a disproportionate amount of greenhouse gases, but the bulk of negative impacts will fall on the developing world, where more people rely directly on natural resources for subsistence and income, where the physical infrastructure is often inadequate and thus unnecessarily at risk from phenomena such as hurricanes, and where many governments cannot afford protective measures. Our relative wealth also provides a bulwark, sometimes literally. Our motivation to care about climate change is limited only by our capacity to care for others. Supposing, you're living in Michigan. Your weather might get a bit strange, but rising sea levels won't wash away your house. You probably aren't a farmer, so you won't have to worry about your crops. You'll still be able to buy food and pay for heat. It is highly unlikely that in the future, polar bears would move to land in response to reduced sea ice, although a few might: it is far more likely that most bears would stay out on the sea ice that lies well offshore - as in the past, bears will die on the ice or at sea, leaving no evidence of their existence. Global climate change has positive and negative effects on marine and terrestrial ecosystems. The cause of global climate change is said to be because carbon dioxide is being emitted through the large scale burning of oil, coal and gas, with an additional contribution coming from clearing of tropical forests and woodlands which results in wildlife life destruction. The carbon dioxide traps heat from the sun in the earth's atmosphere and prevents it from being sent back out into space. The heat that stays trapped in the atmosphere causes the global temperature to increase. Globally, average temperatures are expected to increase between 1.5 to 6.1 degrees Celsius in the next hundred years. Climate change will have significant impacts on the global temperature such as an increase in temperature, change in weather patterns and sea-level rise. Sea-level is expected to rise 95 cm by the year 2100, with large local differences due to tides, wind and atmospheric pressure patterns, changes in ocean circulation, vertical movements of continents etc; the most likely value is in the range from 38 to 55 cm. The relative change of sea and land is the main factor: some areas may experience sea level drop in cases where land is rising faster than sea level. Indirect factors are generally listed as the main difficulties associated with sea-level rise. Pleaseeee Helpp me. Please please please. =\ Just read a litte part of the essay and revise it if you can. please please please! moreResolved Question: Any idea on how to make a bleach pen?

The Power We Hold (my first title, but just give me some suggestions please and thank you) This morning you fed your cat, dog, or even your pet hamster. Later you plan on hopping in the car to get a delectable cheeseburger and fries at a local fast food restaurant. But have you ever thought where that food was produced or even how? Over two hundred companies use animal testing, including; Aussie, Clean and Clear, Garnier, Nair, Pantene, Sunsilk, Tide detergent, and even Axe. More than half products we use are tested on animals just like the pets we have sleeping in our bedroom. We could do so much to stop so many of them from being tested on, or even lower the number of the slaughter. The only reason we test on animals is simply because we are smarter, not because we are worth more than they are. Each year over one hundred and fifteen million animals are killed from research, testing, retail and other causes we humans rely on. That does not include the twenty-five million animals that become homeless every year or the nine million that die on the streets from disease, starvation, exposure, and more. Or even the sixty thousand who die by euthanasia (killing painlessly for reason of mercy) in animal shelters everyday because we clearly cannot hold them. Animals are living creatures, they have feelings and only hope to feel compassion, have offspring, and avoid coming near to pain. “They may be stupid, but they can still feel pain”, on-campus teacher Mrs. Cheek said. These animals, you may not think, are stomped on, tortured, kept in metal crates from birth till death, and some are even hung up by their feet and endure more pain after that, some are even still alive when there fur is pulled off of them to make the leather purse or the fur lined coat you wear today. You may not be aware of these circumstances, and it is necessary that you are. Each time you take a bite of a burger, a steak, ribs or even the occasional snacker you get everyday after school with that extra buck. There is an animal’s life being taken. Some of us say we are against animal cruelty and testing but yet we do nothing to stop it. “I guess you could say I am a hypocrite. I still eat meat, and have the stuff”, Mrs. Cheek said. I am not trying to convince you all to become vegetarian or even cut down on the meat. I am simply just trying to keep you aware of what is happening to them and how the food you eat is honestly produced. Cutting down on those meat munchies would be a nice thing and maybe even cutting down on some company products that use animal testing would be even more nice. Animals have feelings too, we know this, so why do we still put them through such torture? I have cut down on my meat fetish, can you? moreResolved Question: Am I good writer? (Prologue) THE CHASE The city lights are blinding. The loud drones of angry drivers and nightclub music fill my head and in the distance, I hear sirens. As I walk, I gag at the smell of car fumes mixed with the vinegar air coming from the local chippy. Waves of people push past me on the street, seemingly without a destination, but I know that he is still after me. The air is hot and misty with cigarette smoke and warmth flooding from the restaurants on either side of me. Sweat trickles down my forehead and I hear my heart thumping in my ears. I quickly turn my head to catch a glimpse of the shady figure under a distant street lamp. My heart jolts and I start to run. I steal another look, but this time he is lost in the sea of pedestrians. As I face onward once more, I gasp as I realize that the bustling crowd has stopped as the light turns red. My breath is coming in short quick gasps as I turn again to find the elusive shadow. A small whimper escapes me as I see him in the midst of the crowd - much closer than I thought. In a blind panic, I push through the tide of people. My eyes flicker this way and that, looking for a safe place to hide and then I see the dark opening of a corner alleyway across the road. As I dash across the busy expressway, the cars screech to a halt and I hear enraged drivers yelling abuse after me. But I don’t look back at them, I just keep running. I race across the last lane, but break as two brilliant white lights come charging towards me. For a split second, all the air is pushed out of me and I am slammed into the ground. My head smacks against the concrete road and my blood splatters across my face. Intense pain floods into every limb: I feel like I’m on fire. I pause for a moment in shock, listening to the clink of the car door as the driver steps out. I try to pick myself up, but the pain is too unbearable –like a white hot poker has been jammed into my side. I have to get up; I can’t let him catch me. Before she can reach me I stagger to my feet and attempt to run again. I hear her muffled voice as she calls after me and the monstrous anger of horns from traffic behind her. My head throbs and my vision is hazy. All I see are smeared city lights and the alluring calmness of the alley entrance. The alley is dark and still. The cool night breeze is soothing to my aching face. As I slow down to catch my breath, a lone plastic shopping bag flutters toward me. The moonlight reflects itself off the murky puddles and the smell of rotting garbage fills the air. Licking my dry lips I taste the blood gushing from my nose. I wipe my face with the back of my jacket sleeve, leaving a large scarlet stain. But I don’t care about my jacket anymore, because I know I’m running for my life. I close my eyes trying to picture his face; my only memory of him is a tall, dark figure always one step behind me, always watching me... I shudder at the thought. It is too risky to stay still, so I carry on walking. I strain my eyes to see past the gloom for an exit. The only sounds now are my footsteps echoing off the never ending brick walls, and the wind as it whooshes down my path. Graffiti is scribbled on each side – curse words and haunting faces warning me away. It somehow makes me more uneasy, as if I were trespassing. I now had second thoughts about the alley being a safe place to hide… I flinch backwards. There is a sudden movement in the shadows; a stray cat scurries across from behind a refuse bin and into its den. I sigh with relief and see my breath fog before me. I try telling myself to calm down; but still I cannot shake the feeling he has followed me here. I peer round the den, and see two luminous yellow eyes glaring back at me, telling me I shouldn’t be here. I keep on walking. The ominous midnight shadows bear down on me like giants. I hear the pitter-patter as it begins to rain - and footsteps, but not my own. I stand still. The butterflies in my stomach turn to hornets. I slowly twist my head around, but see nothing but darkness behind me. I think I hear the faint sound of breathing… or is my mind playing tricks on me? Feeling sick, I begin to run. The rain pours down harder. I hear the distant patter as my stalker chases after me. Numb with fear, I start to sprint, faster and faster into the dark gloom of the alley, the rain slapping pitilessly against my face. But I run to a dead end. As I fight against the padlock on the metal gate, I hear the soft footsteps of the Assassin. I dare to peek over my shoulder, and see the shady man looming out of the darkness, and the deadly silver twinkle of his gun. Panic stricken, I fight harder against the padlock, but I already know it's over. My heart hammers rapidly in my ears. I try to scream but no sound escapes my sore throat. I clutch onto the wire of the gate carving slices on my palm, hoping against hope that someone will rescue me. He steps closer; I tremble as I feel his hot, steamy breath on the back of my "hot, steamy breath on the back of my neck..." The smell of rotting garbage filled my nose. The only sound were my wet footsteps that echoed off the never ending brick walls. Graffiti was written on each side. It somehow made me feel uneasy, as if i were trespassing. Suddenly, a stray cat scurried across from behind a dumpster into it's den. I peer round, and see two yellow eyes glaring back at me. I keep on walking. The ominous midnight shadows bore down on me. Still, i could not shake the feeling that he had followed me here. I hear the pitter-patter as it begins to rain. And footsteps, but not my own. I stand still. The butterflies in my stomach turn to hornets. I slowly twist my head around, but see nothing but darkness behind me. Feeling sick, i begin to run. The rain pours down harder. I hear the distant patter as my staler chases after me. Numb with fear, i start to sprint, faster and faster into the dark gloom of the ally, the rain smacking against my face. But i run to a dead end. As i fight against the padlock on the metal gate, i hear the soft footsteps of the Assassin. I dare to peak over my shoulder, and see the shady figure stepping out of the darkness, and the silver glisten of his gun. Panic stricken, i fight harder against the padlock, but i already know it's over. My heart hammers in my ears. I tremble as i feel his breath on the back of my neck. I stand motionless like a dear caught in headlights, too petrified to turn to see my killers face. I squeeze my eyes shut as I feel the harsh jab of his gun into my back. Then, the sound of a single gun shot, and i feel nothing at all. moreResolved Question: i have a tide indicator watch would like to know how to set for local tides ?

Over the past 8 years, I've constantly been hearing people from New England (in particular Massachusetts) badmouthing my state and how we run things here. I'm from Texas. They base the way we think here based on George W. Bush. May I remind everyone that the Bushes are from Kinnebunkport, Maine, originally? GW Bush also went to Yale an Ivy League school. So he must be pretty smart then. I could get on my soap box about LBJ being the only actual born-and-bred Texan as President. I could also rant about Barbara Jordan, too. I'm a senior at Texas State University where they both went to school. I'm a geography major doing research on alternative energy. FYI, our geography department here has been rated one of the top five in the entire country. Only one of the Ivy League schools' programs ranked up there with us. I forget which one it was, but I know it wasn't Harvard. I believe it was Brown. Anyway, I'm going to be nice and subtle about this one. I don't want to alienate anyone. For the record, we as Texans are far more progressive than people give us credit for. After all my state is the number one leader in wind energy. We passed California two years ago in wind energy production. Also, T. Boone Pickens is from Texas, too. For those of you who go to Harvard and MIT, you ought to know who T. Boone Pickens is. You also should be able to answer this question I'm posting. With your Ivy League educations, let's see you give me a plausible answer to this one. I'm intrigued. Why are Bay Staters so adamant about not putting wind turbines out on Cape Cod? Can you imagine how much energy that could produce and how much that would help the environment? Why don't they have tidal plants there? The tides there would be perfect. New York City is building a tidal plant in the East River, but why aren't there any around Boston. I know for a fact that there aren't because there are only three places in the entire planet that have tidal plants and only two more places where they're actually being built. Boston is not one of them. Why hasn't Ted Kennedy opened this can of worms? Why haven't any of the locals in that neck of the woods come off the fence on this one? I would think that states as liberal as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut claim to be that they would be willing to cooperate with us. Why not let all your actions do talking? Just so you know, I'm not a fan of GW Bush either. That man is a disgrace to this country. moreResolved Question: What is your favorite type/scent of purex to use?

All talk: "I believe the government plays an essential role in addressing poverty. We must ensure that government policies promote freedom, opportunity and prosperity for all Americans. For example, among the most important determinants of economic well-being is educational attainment. The statistics are undeniable; if you can get a decent education, you can free yourself from the threat of poverty. This is why we all should agree that a quality education is the right of every child and the responsibility of every parent, teacher and school. Furthermore, I believe that government can improve the education system by establishing standards for accountability and performance in schools, fostering competition in the current education monopoly by allowing parents to choose the school that can best educate their child, and fighting the rising tide of high school dropouts." No Action: McCAIN OPPOSED EFFORTS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION McCain Opposed Efforts to Increase Aid and Improve Access to Higher Education. McCain consistently has voted against improving access to college through student aid and better loan conditions. He opposed increasing Pell Grants and restoring cuts to student aid while supporting restricted eligibility for student aid. (S.Amdt. 1602 to H.R. 2660, Vote 339, 9/10/03; H.C.R. 95, Vote 114, 4/28/2005; S.Amdt. 1602 to H.R. 2660, Vote 339, 9/10/03) McCain Voted Against the College Cost Reduction and Access Act. McCain voted against the College Cost Reduction and Access Act, which increased access to Pell Grants, lowered interest rates for Stafford loans, provided funding for Upward Bound programs and provided grants for people entering the teaching profession. The bill helped increase access to higher education for middle class and low-income families by defraying some of the costs that prevent them from continuing their education. (H.R. 2669, Vote 272, 7/20/07) McCAIN HAS NOT SUPPORTED EDUCATORS McCain Opposed Measures to Reduce Class Size. Even though research shows that reducing the number of students in a class is one of the best ways to improve achievement, McCain voted against a measure that would have helped reduce class sizes across the country by authorizing funds to help local school districts recruit, hire and train 100,000 new teachers. (S. 280, Vote 41, 3/3/99) McCain Voted Against Funding for Teacher Quality Programs. McCain voted against additional funding for teacher quality programs, Mathematics and Science Partnerships and school leadership programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the Higher Education Act of 1965. The tide in a local costal community can be modelled using a sine function. Starting at noon, the tide is at its "average" height of 3 metres measured on a pole located off of the shore. 5 hours later is high tide with the tide at a height of 5 metres measured at the same pole. 15 hours after noon is low tide with the tide at a height of 1 metre measured at the same pole. Use this information to model the tide motion using a sine function. ???????????????????????????? i have to come up with an equation for this question thanks moreResolved Question: Trig Problem: If the water must be at least 3 m deep to dive, between what daylight hours should people dive?
The original question stated: The water at a local beach has an average depth of 1 metre at low tide. The average depth of the water at high tide is 8 m, one cycle takes 12 hours, and 0 time is the beginning of high tide. This is what I have so far: 3(t) = 3.5 cos [(pi/6)t] 4.5 -0.428 = cos [(pi/6)t] cos^-1 (-0.428) = (pi/6)t 2.013 = (pi/6)t 3.845 = t I don't know how to interpret this number to solve the problem. I didn't realize this law existed until I read the article below. Why would any city outlaw the participation of local authorities with the feds in an effort to stem the tide of illegal immigrants? I'm not trying to be inflammatory, I just don't get it. Illegal immigration is certainly a touchy subject for some and there are many variables that go along with each case but to bar law enforcement from enforcing the law seems a bit counterproductive to me. Further, if this is the way that we are going to handle the situation, why have immigration laws at all? I live about 20 minutes away from the county with the toughest immigrant laws in the nation and I just can't wrap my mind around this. Does anyone know the rationale that went into writing this law? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080724/ap_on_re_us/road_rage_killing moreResolved Question: Can you help save the Stadium Dog?
University of Alabama Fans will you please save the Stadium Dog? Here is a link to the petition to save the Bryant Denny Stadium Dog -----> http://www.petitiononline.com/drgonzo9/petition.html The unthinkable is a reality for Alabama football. We're not talking about losing to Louisiana-Monroe, or being defeated two years in a row by Mississippi State or losing six straight games to Auburn. We're not even talking about the possibility that former UA quarterback Kenny Stabler, the best college football radio analyst in the business, may be sidelined this season after a DUI arrest over the weekend in Robertsdale. No, this is a matter of the gravest import. The culinary staple of hardcore Alabama fans -- the classic hot dog -- may soon be kicked out of Bryant-Denny Stadium. That's because Crimson Tide Sports Marketing Inc., which controls concession rights for UA athletics, has signed a new deal with a Connecticut-based vendor who seeks a more upscale dining experience for sports fans than just hot dogs and popcorn. The deal ends an association of more than two decades between the university and the Birmingham-based Yarbrough Co. for concessions and food. Yarbrough's centerpiece was the beloved "stadium dog," topped with a special sauce. Many longtime fans associate the taste of that sauce with Alabama football. An official of the new firm, Centerplate Inc., says it's too early to start talking about menu plans. The company says its stadium food will reflect local culture. Well, local culture: In Philadelphia, that means Philly cheese steaks. In San Diego, it's fish tacos at the stadium. San Francisco offers a tofu dog. But in Tuscaloosa? Assuming that non-stadium local specialties like grits, country ham with red-eye gravy and buttermilk biscuits are excluded, you're talking about Cokes, burgers and chips. And hot dogs. With special sauce. The sooner the Connecticut vendor understands that, the better. We are looking for at least 92,000 Signatures. Please help.! Please pass the link on to as many Tide Fans as you can. We need thousands of people to sign this thing WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! moreResolved Question: How can i fish an overfished area with SUCCESS???
I live nearby a severely overfished Reservoir. It's only five miles away, and being that it's summer and also within walking distance, fishing is something I'd love to do more often. I have seen many of the locals come back from trips with catfish ten to thirty pounds in weight! I don't know where and when they fish in the reservoir, but the only fish I've ever caught there was a bream smaller than my palm. There's somewhat of a current, due to the fact that the Reservoir is used to cool the rods of a nuclear power plant. The water is pumped in and out everyday and seems to have a high and low tide of it's own. But anyway, are there any suggestions as to how i could be one of the locals that comes back with one of the big cats? Any tips on how to fish an overfished area with success? I don't have a boat. I'd be doing fishing off shore. I'd greatly appreciate any help that is given. I love to fish, but just need a little help in knowing what to do now. Thank you! :D -Tanner moreMore Local Tides Results
