Resolved Question: Would in be inappropriate to put this in a cover letter?

I'm applying for a job as a customer service rep for a company that sells medical supplies. While I have extensive experience in customer service, I have no medical background, other than my husband is a nurse. I have picked up on a lot of jargon from him, so I am somewhat familiar with several medical terms. I have also typed most of his papers while he has been in school (he is currently working on his Master's). So, would it be inappropriate to mention this in the cover letter? Something like this: "My experience in health care is limited to my own health experiences (which thankfully have been few) and my daily conversations with my husband, who is an ICU nurse. I am always anxious to hear about his day, and learning about the many medical terms and procedures." Thoughts/Opinions?  more

Resolved Question: Is this a WW2 Medical Kit?

have a medical kit which I am not sure that it is from WW2? It was given to me by a guy who said he had about 30 left over from the war and so then I just thought it would be a cool thing to have. Now I'm beginning to collect WW2 stuff. It is made of plastic and has the number 6545-922-1200 on the front. It also says FIRST AID KIT then below that General Purpose in all caps but smaller lettering. There is also a sticeker with a white background and a red cross. On the back it has.... 6546-113-3722 Case Medical Instrument and Supply Set Plastic, Rigid, Size A Welsh,A Textron Company DSA120-74-C-1585 I'm assuming it is from the United States but would like to know which group used it i.e. paratroopers, Navy etc. If you could point me in a direction to find this med kit would be great. I will select best answer. Please help and Thanks.  more

Voting Question: Why is it when it's proposed that tax dollars actually go into benefiting the people, there is...?

..."no money." But when it's taxes for wars, "rebuilding countries," trillions in bailouts to corrupt corporations, billions for states to purchase a hazardous waste product to be placed into the water (a mandated taxpayer program to poison our water supply with sodium fluoride), and other wasteful spending; there always seems to be no limits in the money supply. Why is that? The worst part is that America is already paying the most in tax dollars to subsidize the insurance companies, when all that money would go directly into covering medical care 100% when you leave out the profit driven HMOs which are the middlemen being funded with tax dollars and people's premiums. scubadiverMS: And in the US, you don't even have a waiting list if you can't afford it or if your insurance drops you--you are just kicked out of the hospital and left to die. I'm pretty sure people prefer a waiting list to no list.  more

Voting Question: i need a plan to help with life?

i need some help. some good detailed ideas on what to do.. dont tell me oh get up and move or call cops. there is no easy quick solution to my problem, and the cops are not fairy godmothers especially not the nypd, nyc police. ok im a 25 yr old female living in a very large renovated house with a pool and housekeeper so i dont need to do housecleaning. i live in my parents house its their money, their home, their houekeeper etc.. i dont own much money i have about 200 dollars saved up in my bedroom other then that my parents do not support me financially, they just do not charge me rent to live in their large home and i get a bedroom of my own(with my old kids toys in it and pink walls, the same one i grew up in) anyways so thats a plus, i have a place to live free,a roof over my head and a large enough home to avoid any fights with parents. i stay to myself alot and avoid them and i dont need to do housework other then take care of my room, grocery shop over the phone, order supplies for the house, watch the house, call exterminators or the electric or gas company if theres a problem. i help over the phone since i cant walk well my parents dont really do anything either, they dont cook or clean the home, no one cooksw or eats togeather in my home.. they go out to eat or eat at my sisters home. they are always over at my sisters home daily...but im not welcome there, but they eat alot of their meals over there so they do not grocery shop. i am responsible for getting my own things by ordering household groceries for myself and them over the phone for delivery i was in college, working hard, a serious smart student, never drank or smoked, no drugs, no crazy college parties. i was the studious nice girl who wanted to get through the classes and work towards a career i didnt finish college because before i did i got into a bad accident and almost was dead, since then i can barely walk, for the last 3 years ive been bed ridden 50% of the time. i could not even stand up straight untill a month ago, i still have alot of trouble walking and bending and lifting stuff, and getting up and down steps, but i manage even tho i do everything very slow so im disabled and cannot work and i have severe pain daily, even if i move the pain is worse my parents have alot of money and they supported both of my older sisters fully financially at my age, they support my younger adult sisters.. so i dont see myself as a financial burden, since i dont askl for much just food, vitamins, toiletries, medication and some basic cheap discount clothing like t shirts, sneakers, skirt.. like wal mart, target priced things but they decided over a year ago to stop paying for clothing for me and medicine, so i had to struggle. my older sister who just got out of her residency as a doctor had to help and pay for clothing for me this year and a winter coat and shoes for me since my parents do not want to spend any money on me. my sisters only 30 and i feel guilty like its not her responsiblity since im not her daughter...i feel like my parents should be helping me, im not asking for alot, i dont have a car, i dont go on vacations or buy jewelery or things i dont need. i really dont need alot except for food, basic clothing and shoes, and toiletries.. just basic things to survive on my parents dont want to spend the money on me, so when i need something i sort of panic and feel embarrased about calling one of my sisters to help since they said its not their responsibility. again my older sisters were fully financially supported by my parents at my age.they paid for their homes, credit cards, car payment, multiple vacations every few months they took, jewelery, deisgner clothes and handbags im not even asking for any of that. i never owned more then 1 designer thing in my life and that was a handbag i got as a gift when i was younger i just want basic stuff.if i were to day fair is fair id ask for jewelery and a car and 10 designer handbags and expensive clothes etc...like my sisters have, but i dont i just want basic stuff anyhow so i have a big money problem because i need to know i have enough food and clothes.. my parents went through my room and tossed out all of my clothes. then they refused to give me any money to buy new stuff so they are stubborn.. my sister had to 3 months later finally pay for some stuff through the internet to mail to me after seeing me go 3 months wearing the same outfit every other day my parents are abusive, they lose their temper and have beaten me many times, they scream curse at and threaten me.. its uncalled for. i ignore them because im scared of them i have health problems, heart problems and other serious medical problems and i have trouble walking and chronic pains. i can barely get my but i manage on my own... using the bathroom, showering and dressing are hard but i manage and compromise and do things slowly i have trouble moving my arms a certain way like over my head alot of time which gets in the way of dressing they give me trouble and threaten me and they try to prevent me from eating, they dont like food to be sent to the house, so they dont let people send enough for me to eat. its not the money, they have a few million dollars saved. they have money to provide me with enough groceries to last a week and for me to eat 3 times a day but i have to compromise and eat 1 meal a day because they are stubborn and dont let people send enough food. i am the only one who orders groceries. they walk around complainiung they are hungry when they dont go to my sisters house but then again they dont let me order food when i try to.. they should not complain of hunger if they dont let me order groceries for the house its like they need attention..they are saying they are hungry and then they call all the stores and tell them not to deliver.. i dont know why they starve me but it isnt helping my health and if my health was well id be able to get a job and care for myself and live in my own my father beat me and broke my sternum a few years ago, i tried telling the cops a few times and they didnt believe me since its not my house and my father answered the door and he is loud and outspoken, and im a quit person but either way they didnt believe me...again this is nypd theres so many complaints against my local police precinct by the community, the cops here are bad and dont do their job my father got angry when i told him i want to go to college and get married and that i will recover first... he didnt like that i was seeing doctors or trying to have friends come over to bring me groceries or help me in other ways, like with mailing things..since i was homebound and could not walk without losing my balance.. so my father threatend me and went to court against me a few times meanwhile paying a lawyer thousands of dollars to go against me he went to court and lied of course, first he tried to have me commited to a mental ward for no reason, he made up a bunch of poorly thought out stories that didnt ad up and the judge saw right through him and dismissed it and i won, she saw he was a liar he then went 2 more times without me to court, i wasnt even served court papers. while i was bedridden he went to court to get an order of protection against me. i couldnt show up because i was stuck in bed. then he went to court to try to gain adult guardianship of me and i was bed then he went to court to try to gain adult guardianship of me and i was bedridden then also and he won against me so now he owns my money, and me and all the decisions, but he dosnt talk to me.. it was a different judge and a male judge this time anyhow everyone knows i dont qualify for adult guardianship. you need to be mentally ill,in a vegetetive state or mentally impaired, like not knowing what day it is or how to think.. like a downs syndrome person. so they assign a person to make money, life, personal, marriage and health decisions for you. you dont even get to write a will or sign up against organ donation or things. its usually for advanced alzheimers pateints whos kids want them in a nursing home now i have nothing mentally wrong with me and ive been told that by a psychologist. my parents know that they just want to get even with me(my father has narcisistic personality disorder and is a sociopath, so to him getting even at your 25 yr old sick daughter is normal) hes 65 by the way..almost 3 times my age\ everyone who knows him knows hes mentally ill and he abused 5 children(me and my siblings) they all do not like him, but they are scared of him so they kiss up to him and accept his money as adults. i was hoping id be in graduate school by now so i can start supporting myself i didnt know id end up with moblity trouble and find out i have heart problems and other medical problems anyhow so i need to find a way to get my parents to back off of me and let me take it easy while in their home.i need to have enough food, clothes, medicine, vitamins, and its all in their budget., they own millions and i cannot imagine it would cost that much.groceries like 400 a month, clothes 3 times a year. 5-600 dollars for a wardrobe, vitamins like 100 dollars a year, i want to sign up for disability checks so i can have money for food and to care for myself but my father threatened to take all the money and use it on himself. he also refuses to give me my id and ok well what to do? social services messed up my life a few times, i had bad run into with child protective service and adult protectice service, they made my life bad and took my parents side each time which ended me up in alot of trouble. so i want to avoid that path i also cannot afford a lawyer and every free law service turned me away. i tried legal aid and they dont handle such cases they told me the cops refuse to help... what can i do on my own tho any creative things i cant work, i have trouble walking and am homebound, i cannot leave my home. i also do not have the same right as a 25 yr old. if i do work my father gets the money he says if i leave he will call the cops, the cops will lock me away if he tells them to i know you said you have schitzophrenia and that does not stop a person from working.. i have medical problems, that does stop people from working.i need disability checks and i cant get them because my father will take them and he wont give me the documents i need yea really i am depressed about this, not mental depressed but just sad and stressed over the abuse and i cry because of it alot. only one of my sisters supports herself. the rest of them are supported by my father..im scared to be out on my own even tho i was trying to move away years ago before i got injured. i was ready when i was 18 and 21 but not now which is weird , maybe because im scared of my physical mobility and health problems and maybe because i became used to living at home... it became sort of a comfort for me that maybe im scared to go and be independant? part of me dosnt feel like a starting a life, not like this and disabled. id also need someone to come over and cook for me since i have trouble bending to use an oven or lifting pots. id also need someone to come over and clean the house and do laundry for me. since i have trouble with physical tasks i used to do. i lost alot of ambitions of mine, maybe i became depressed  more

Voting Question: Need to personally sponsor a child in a depressed country?

I work in an emergency room, and the ER wants to sponsor a child in poverty. The only thing is that we don't want to do it through a company such as the Christian Children's Fund, since they don't allow us to directly send them things. (We want to directly send them shoes, clothes, medical supplies, etc) Does anyone know of an organization that would give such flexibility and direct communication?  more

Resolved Question: Would I Make a good President Of The United States?

Never made over 20,000 dollars, I have the ability to Understand People. Believe everyone deserves oppurtunity and should have a job. would do this as a President, First to boost the economy, I rescend the 787 billion for Government projects because government projects only stimulate government power. As part of the Plan to rejuvenate the Economy I would clean up America versus throwing money at shovel ready pork initiatves. I would call for a national census, anyone who didnt have American citezenship would be deported to there country they illegally came from. The wall around Mexico would be built in three years. Corporations that evade taxes with offshore accounts leaving the burden for the common people would automatically be fined triple the amount they funnelled into offshore accounts and would be held in detaining camps until it is verified they are not supporting terrorism. Also there corporation License would be revoked for 1 year. Bernie Madoff would be expedited to a prison similiar to San Queintin. Churches that use American Currency as a means of operation would no longer be exempt from taxes as most preachers and churches are profitters and do not help the public enough. Health care would be regulated, as if you have healthcare you would have for large surgeries, only a copay equal to the amount of your monthly or biweekly premium. Doctors and surgeons would be regulated, they would have to supply you with there complete record of proficiency report, 3 strikes and your out in the Medical Field. Corporations importing goods from china or anyother country would be regulated. 200 billion of the 787 billion that I rescend, would be used in creating manufacturing plants in America where good were again Manufactured in America, All corporations and companies selling goods would have to sell at a minimum 65 percent American goods, made in America. Companies that neglect the law would be punished with a 1000.00 dollar fine for each product that over the 35 percent limit for foreign goods. Companies like Nike who get there shoes made for under a dollar and sell them here for 100 dollars would be regulated in how they pay for labor and will be forced to pay minium wage even to foreign country workers. I believe this would be a make sense approach to curving the recession, companies would come to being American companies or forced out of the mix. I would make a strong campaign against North Korea and there reckless attitude, if they threaten America and our Liberty and Peace, I would Immediately Call for a strategic war strategy and would seek to kim jung il and jung il for expulsion from the Planet. I would require auto makes to produce an electric car, better proficient hydrocell within two years of my campaign or there license would be rescended and they would be unable to sell new cars for 1 year. I would force the Middle east to learn to use something other than oil to bargain with America by building hydrocell stations throughout America, creating less oppurtun ity to even be obliged to trade with the Middle east. Any one who isnt an American Citizen and hasnt went through a thourough evaluation check would be restricted from operating a convenient store. I see to many Middle Easterners running stations with combustable fuels. Not In my Country. Every American would respect the American Flag, anyone wanting to have an American Flag on a Flag pole in there front yard in a subdivision would be able to, If any action was taken against those who choose to have an American Flag in there front lawn by any commitee or homeowners association the entire working order against such would be thrown into Jail for Conspiracy. "In God We Trust" would be removed from the dollar, It would say "In Liberty we Prevail" from now on. Minimum wage would be 10.00 an hour and a living standard Increase would be automatically provided for corporations by which they should within 200 days adhere to. meaning if living standards go above 10.00 hourly, you would receive an Increase, if they go below 10.00 hourly, you would still get paid 10.00 hourly, typically thats roughly 300 dollars a week at a minimum. Voting Question: What does "Med." stand for on my pay stub.?

what does Med. stand for under the deductions. It withheld $3.73 this week and $64.19 for the year so far. Recently, my job said that all it's employees couldn't work more than 32 hours a week because then the company had to supply medical or something like that. If "Med" stands for medical, is it wrong that they are taking out money for it even though i don't get any medical benefits. Also, what does "FIT" stand for. Its Burger King by the way in Massachusetts.  more

Resolved Question: New Rules at Job has essentially taken away my ability to do job,how to write a letter to Company and explain?

I work on an Air Force base for a private company but we are considered Federal employees.I work as a Baker and have to follow all Air Force policies and recipes.I am Lead Baker and as of yesterday I was informed I am no longer allowed in office or Bakers supply room (Storeroom). In order for me to do my Job properly I need accesss to these rooms and common sense should dictate this to Supervisors.I honestly think they are trying to make me quit.Do you think writting a letter to CEO of are company would be appropriate since are Big Boss on Base wont listen to reason,or will this make things worse.I am open to any new ideas or approaches.Quitting is not an option right now as I need are medical coverage for a health problem that is being made worse by this situation. In order for me to get supplies when needed I have to find Supervisor and have then unlock supplies(we have a Big Building)As A Baker I cannot walk away from oven and chase down Supervisor to get supplies as I may burn something in oven because I am too faraway to hear timer.I try to have all supplies needed but sometimes a recipe calls for something I dont have immediately in stock or I have run out of like Sugar ,salt.eggs.New policy makes no sense.  more

Resolved Question: Why is it that we Americans allow ourselves to be totally ripped off by the medical establishment?

I'm a nurse and I see on a daily basis the way our tax money is wasted in order to make drug companies, insurance companies, politicians, Medicare billing services (you know those ads that promise to send "all your diabetic supplies right to your door & we'll bill your insurance for you"), etc.etc richer than they already are. And at the same time, everyday people are doing without the care they need and deserve. How much worse could socialized medical care be? In my situation, my husband is disabled and gets medicare; but, I still pay almost $400 a month on secondary insurance, just so we wont get sued for co-pays on meds & hospital MD visits and even with all his coverage, we still barely make it, because of noncovered crap. I know I am luckier than a lot of Americans in that I have a decent paying job that offers insurance; even if that insurance is overpriced and just plain sucks. Sorry so long, but I have to go to the doctor today and I'm kinda pissed off. Thanks  more

Resolved Question: Who would like see Farrah Fawcett's Cancer Cured?

If any one reading this post knows how to get this message to Farrah Fawcett, or Ryan O'Neal, please hurry and get this to them. It will help save her life! I have heard reports that Hemp Oil containing THC may be an effective alternate treatment for Cancers, Diabetes, and other serious diseases. This treatment is described on Rick Simpson's website phoenixtears.cal It has nothing to do with Smoking Pot! The treatment involves her ingesting a small amount of the HEMP OIL WITH THC about three times a day, and do not stop. She needs to only ingest a small amount about the size of ½ of a grain of Rice. It will have to be done in secret, as it is Illegal to Distill the Hemp Oil containing THC out of the Hemp Plant. Also immediately go to a doctor who will prescribe Medical Marijuana and get her Medical Marijuana card. Somebody then can take her or go for her to a State authorized Medical Marijuana Pharmacy. I believe the pharmacy can also distribute to her the Hemp Oil containing THC. If not someone will have to take care of the distilling of the Hemp Oil with THC for her. What options does she have at this time? None! I am sure that with millions of loving fans, there must be someone in the Southern California Region who can supply this HEMP OIL WITH THC to Farrah Fawcett. Ryan, act on this now for Farrah. Go to phoenixtears.ca Rick Simpson’s videos show in complete detail how the process is done to distill the Hemp Oil with THC. The Youtube video show below also shows how the distilling process works. A separate medical research group came to the same conclusion with their research. Go to Scientists Exploring Truth in Healing, (SETH): www.sethgroup.org And watch time-lapse video of THC KILLING CANCER cells in the brain while normal cells are perfectly alive and untouched. Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the main active ingredient in marijuana. The Cancer Cure NS team Cumberland County, Canada's Cancer Cure Community PhoenixTears.ca PhoenixTearsmovie.com http://youtube.com/chrychek Any medical researcher should look into this information very clearly. Anyone with Cancer or other Serious diseases should be given this information and decide if they should attempt their own treatment. DO NOT ask your regular doctor, your oncology doctor, regular nurse, or your HOSPICE nurse or HOSPICE CAREGIVER, they will all tell you this is nothing you should take and they will not help you with the HEMP OIL WITH THC. They will tell you your only possible chance is to let them fill your body with Poison Chemo Drugs. For those who have run the gauntlet of Chemo Therapies with no success, they have nothing to loose to look into this alternate treatment. CHEMO THEREPHY kills more people in the world than it cures! That is a verifiable proven fact the medical doctors and drug companies do not want to tell you. People will see that this alternate treatment is not legal in the US or Canada and people in order to attempt to save their own lives must realize they will have to take extraordinary and SECRETIVE measures. There are some countries that may allow these treatments in a legal manor. For those at the end of your rope, you have everything to gain and nothing to loose. ALL THAT IS NECESSARY FOR EVIL TO TRIUMPH IS FOR GOOD MEN AND WOMEN TO DO NOTHING.  more

Voting Question: Need people's advice. What should I do with my career?

I'm sure I'm going to get some not so nice answers to this question because face it.....there are some smart a** people in our society but I would really like some advice. I'm 38, married and over the last few years I have had bad luck in my career. I was a medic in the U.S. Air Force for four years and finished about 2.5 years of college. In 1997 I got an entry level job with a medical device company and worked my way up through that company for 4 years. Then I became a territory manager with another medical device company, selling surgical supplies. I worked there for 5 years and left that company to become a regional manager with a medical diagnostic company. I covered the entire Western United States and managed 4 reps. After about a year and a half the company was bought out and they let everyone go. I then went to work with a medical consultation company as a territory manager, and after 8 months they laid off over half of the sales force, including me. My latest job was a regional manager for a medical distribution company. I managed 6 reps and was doing exceptionally well, then the company was bought out and they let everyone go. Throughout my career I won numerous sales awards and had great success. I love medical sales, and the medical industry in general, but I'm tired of going from one job to another. I've made upwards of $170k a year and while money is nice, it's not everything. Stability is more important than money. So, here I am now. Unemployed and considering my next move. I'm back in Chicago now and have considered going back to college to finish off my degree. If I go back to school, I'd like to focus on a specialty like a Physician Assistant degree, Nursing, or even something out of the medical field. I would like to finish off my degree, or move into a different career that will start me off around $60k minimum. The thing that is hold me back from finishing my degree is my age. I know that I'm not that old, but I would rather be working and building a new career than going back to school. What are some other options? What could I do with a little bit of training that will make a respectable income, have higher income potential, and provide more stability?  more

Resolved Question: Instead of government run health care can we simply regulate?

Markups that hospitals place on medical supplies and drug costs. Could we base it on a certain % markup based on raw materials and production costs. Lets be honest when you see an itemized bill for a hospital stay and you are paying $15 for a .02 band-aid its going to put heath care out of reach for a lot of ppl. Insurance companies have to drive up costs to handle this and therefore its expensive. I dont like regulation as a rule but health care is not a luxury. Good idea or not? well when you have a 2000% markup someone is making profit. If its medical suppliers charging hospitals then perhaps its they need regulation. thats funny that I'm paying 400/hr for him to put the 12 band aid on. so yea I took that into account.  more

Resolved Question: air force one's recent NYC stunt & NOT closing the mexican border makes for a responsible president?

and consider even more: the "stimulus package," which does not address rampant problems with a nation that has lived on credit far too long, and the bank bailouts not making those banks use our money to lend american companies the short term, prime rate, loans they desperately need for operating expenses until they receive their accounts payable, and that biden has to be a fall-guy cardboard cutout vice president with an IQ of somewhere around 55 (my opinion), leaving things such that if obama was dead/incapacitated, first biden would become the president and then, nancy pelosi (!!!), and given that afghanistan will be obama's war, most likely causing the draft to be reinstated to bring our boys back in pieces if their bodies can be identified or if they do not go missing in action, and that it seems that obama is Big Money's patsy (think that one over), do you think that obama has proved to us that he is going to be able to handle the myriad problems facing we, the citizens of our country well enough to make our country whole, and strong, and rich, again? i personally do not believe that the crazed flyover of NYC of what seemed to be the real airforce one, with its fighter plane(s), was unknown to the president because it's far too important of a plane and what president in his right mind and with all due loyalty to american citizens--and of course to businessmen conducting business all around the WORLD so that these high end bank bailouts have a chance to save the dollar--would NOT have immediately shut down the mexican border using our national guard when it was revealed to us that already, 81 mexicans had been killed by this epidemic... is a good president??? forgive my grammar: i am exhausted from my escape from mexico the other day--but it was my fortune to find a medical supply store that had surgical masks which i did buy and which i did wear in both the airports and the planes! but still, you hear that obama MEANT to tell us not to go onto an airplane if WE ourselves, not mexicans with mexican flu (why is asian flu and spanish flu called what they are called?) feel sick! please elaborate and feel free to come back to edit before this question is either spidered off this forum (like many of our questions suddenly are mysteriously removed for who knows what?), or before the best answer is chosen. the more you argue your point(s), the more i like you.  more

Resolved Question: conspiracy theory story idea?

I'm curious to see if there is any of the conspiracy theorist, that always come out of the bushes during a crisis, that have played with the recent possibility of the swine flu? Every time a major event occurs, someone seems to suggest that there is a "power behind the throne". I'm just exploring the idea that a large manufacturer of influenza vaccine could be responsible as a desperate move to jump start the economy, I haven't heard any of these theories yet but the story line is somewhat intriguing. as most know the movie based on Dan Brown's novel Angels and Demons is being released in theaters in May eerily close to the day the illuminati (a secret society based on the idea of creating a New World Order through influence of government and other powerful entities) was founded on May 1st 1776 (which is what Angels and Demons revolves around). the way the stories are told is the Illuminati our a secret global society that influence powerful companies and people in government in order to meet a single goal of controlling the world as they vision it by any means, including causing catastrophe. So, suppose you take this idea and run with it.......... Suppose that the Illuminati have influence in companies that would be responsible for manufacturing the large quantity of influenza vaccine for the new virus as well as companies supplying other medical equipment necessary like gloves, mask and sterilizing equipment; Also suppose they manage a chain of companies that research and create viruses, disease and other forms of biological warfare. Now, imagine those companies being like many in major countries such as the U.S. who are in a failing economy. Wouldn't it be convenient for those countries that there would be a large demand for expensive medical attention to treat a mysterious new strand of influenza in other countries they don't heavily rely on? If this was true, would it be a possibility and what would be the big picture other than to generate large amounts of revenue for these countries, who, would then jump start the economy through "trickle down economics"? P.S. this is just a thought, by no means is this my belief or a serious suggestion, its no more than curiosity to hear from a more educated source what the possibilities are of this idea being expanded on. I'm simply looking for an angle on a story and its easier to relate it when there is a current event that fits the mold and by no means is this intended to be insensitive and I apologize now if anyone has been offended. My heart goes out to the many people affected by the illness world wide. the invisible hand: A term used by Adam Smith to describe his belief that individuals seeking their economic self-interest actually benefit society more than they would if they tried to benefit society directly. It is a similar concept of "power behinde the throne" but of opposite meanning because if the invisible hand of the economy were present then this would be a drive to benifit society through compitition which you could argue that pharmacuetical companies will be competing for the market but the angle i took was that the same "invisible" force or secret society also caused the pandemic that sparked the compitition for the market and Adam Smith's statement was not that dark  more

Resolved Question: Will General Electric subsidaries NBC, CNBC, and MSNBC ever report anything negative about Obama?

General Electric Corporation owns a wide variety of businesses. GE is also one of the preeminent financial services companies in the US. General Electric Capital, comprising commercial finance, consumer finance, aircraft leasing, real estate, and energy financial services, is its largest segment. Other operations include the NBC television network. One of General Electric's largest divisions, GE Energy serves utility, industrial, and governmental customers worldwide, supplying products such as compressors, wind turbines, generators, and nuclear reactors. It also provides equipment that supports oil and gas distribution, and services ranging from consulting and field engineering to environmental monitoring and product lifecycle management. The General Electric CEO is openly a Obama supporter and he wants cap and trade to pass. Why? Not because it is good for the environment, but it is good for General Electric's bottom line. So will these networks ever report anything controversial about Obama?  more

Voting Question: Please help me w/ these questions....?

Your position is the business director for a large medical supply company. You provide medical supplies to medical offices as well as hospitals throughout the country. You have been asked to provide a projection for business in the next five years. What economic tools would you use to provide projections for future business, what products might be needed and the type of personnel the company will need for the future? Currently the company not only sells products but provides training to doctors and hospitals on the technology used in some of the medical equipment you sell and lease to the medical community. Also, what projections would you provide the strategic team as for the potential business picture - using economic indicators, would your business likely grow or are you in a decreasing market? Voting Question: Looking for NAG (N-acetylglucoseamine)?

I am looking for N-Acetylglucoseamine, aka NAG. One of the biggest reasons why i am looking for it is its active role in the lining of the digestive track (I am not looking for glucoseamine, used in the repair of cartilage at/near joints of the body I am looking for NAG in powder form (non-capsule) and JUST NAG ["who and why"]My boyfriend, has moderately bad Chron's disease. He's in pain most of the day, its worst in the morning and when he lays down to sleep. And if he has anything he's not suppose to have (ANY dairy, red food coloring, phosphoric acid *found in things like diet pop*, high amounts of fiber, alcohol, etc) He's in even worse pain. So i've been doing research, etc on possible ways to help. So far the best results are from, omega 3-fish oil, L-glutamine, and Alove vera juice. He doesn't have ANY health insurance and works miminum wage, so he can't afford to see a doctor and costly medicines (Hopefully soon, he can be "rated" and get reduced medical charges because of his condition) Plus, taking lots of pills that will cause other side effects and problems, plus lose efficiancy after a certain amount of time; doesn't sound too appealing either. I am hoping to keep him from needing surgery (for severe chron's) to remove part of the small intestine, and hopefully get his chron's into remission, using nutrients your body naturally needs/uses and gets from daily diets (I just try to pinpoint the nutrient and get a supplement so he gets what his particular body needs, as his body is less efficient in absorbing the good stuff, lol) So far, i've only been able to find it online. First problem, i found a wholesale bulk company that supplies powder NAG... BUT i need to buy 25 kilos (2.2lbs per kilo) at $46-per-kilo+shipping. WAY too much and out of both our price ranges combined. Second problem, a few online stores offer it in mixes, usually with other amino acids. Unfortunately, theres usually only about 5mg of NAG of the 500/1000mg capsule which isn't nearly enough that he needs. Third problem, i found one website that offered NAG in powder form but only one product. Resolved Question: How is the oxycodone shortage effecting you or someone you know?

Large-scale recalls and a production stoppage by two major manufacturers have created a shortage of oxycodone immediate-release tablets, a potent opioid painkiller. Mallinckrodt, Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals and Vintage Pharmaceuticals have short supplies of the product due to recalls by other drugmakers, according to the FDA’s drug shortage website. The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ website lists manufacturing issues at KV Pharmaceutical and Actavis as the reason for the shortage.Oxycodone shortage hurts patients The detox may be worse than the pain Updated: Thursday, 26 Feb 2009, 7:20 PM EST Published : Thursday, 26 Feb 2009, 5:03 PM EST Story by: Chris Velardi (WTNH) - The recent Oxycodone shortage is a real pain for its users and doctors. It's such a powerful drug that if patients are forced to stop using, they may have to go to rehab to deal with withdrawal symptoms. Sondra has chronic back pain and the only thing that truly eases that pain is Oxycodone . "I wouldn't be able to function at all without it," Sondra said. That's why Sondra's concerned about a nationwide shortage of the drug. The shortage stems from a voluntary recall of Oxycodone from drug maker Ethex . That forced pharmacies to turn to other companies that weren't prepared and are already limited by the government as to how much Oxycodone they can produce. I feel bad for people who need it I am lucky that i don't need this medication.I want to buy stock in companies that are making up for the shortage .I heard on one news broadcast that each company has to give a set number to the fda each year of how many medications they will distribute and they can not under any condition distribute more.So theese companies might not make a profit off of the two shut down companies.Just wanted to know people opions on this subject. It is effecting alot of people for it to be on the news.Is it effecting you or anyone you know.My aunt has to see a doc.for medical problems chronic pain and it is effecting her.  more

Resolved Question: THE COUNTRY of TEXAS?...........?

Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union. (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.) We Texans love y'all but we'll probably have to take action since Barack Obama won the election. We'll miss you too. Here is what can happen: 1: Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United States and Texas immediately secedes from the Union. 2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas. You might not think that he talks too pretty but we haven't had another terrorist attack and the economy was fine until the effects of the Democrats lowering the qualifications for home loans came to roost. So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic? 1. NASA is just south of Houston, Texas. We will control the space industry. 2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States. 3. Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term "Don't mess with Texas" will take on a whole new meaning. 4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. What will the other states do? Gee, we don't know. Why not ask Obama? 5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need and it's too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry and Al Gore will have to figure out a way to keep them warm.... 6. Computer Industry - we lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications equipment -small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials Ball, Miconductor, Dallas Semiconductor Nortel, Alcatel, etc etc. The list goes on and on. 7. Medical Care - We have the research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world as well as other large health centers. The Houston Medical Center alone employs over 65000 people. 8. We have enough colleges to keep us getting smarter: University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas Christian, Rice, SMU, University of Dallas, University of Houston, Baylor, UNT (University of North Texas), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway. 9. We have an intelligent and energetic work force and it isn't restricted by a bunch of unions. Here in Texas it's a Right to Work State and, therefore, it's every man and women for themselves. We just go out and get the job done. And if we don't like the way one company operates we get a job somewhere else. 10. We have essential control of the paper, plastics, and insurance Industries etc. 11. In case of a foreign invasion we have the Texas National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard and several military bases. We don't have an Army but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over the Texas Rangers. 12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don't need any food. 13. Three of the ten largest cities in the United States and twenty-three of the 100 largest cities in the United States are located in Texas. And Texas also has more land than California, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island and Vermont combined. 14. Trade: Three of the ten largest ports in the United States are located in Texas. 5. We also manufacture cars down here but we don't need to. You see nothing rusts in Texas, so our vehicles stay beautiful and run well for decades. This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have. Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama: Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 9 mpg SUV. The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes. You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications. You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming. So in other words go screw yourselves. Oh that's right. You already have! Signed The People of Texas P.S. This is not a threatening letter - just a note to give you something to think about! SLEEP WELL TONIGHT THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU i hope to see a LOT of fellow texan support here! nodumgys, that is for the yanks that dont know any better. lol  more

Resolved Question: What if I duplicate the Meta Keywords tag?

So I work for an online Medical Supply company. We sell everything from Medical tape to Hospital Bed Packages. Our static pages (pages ending in ".html") are generated and refreshed every 48 to 72 hours. We use a PERL script that pulls all of the data in from the online database. Well, it looks like the guy who wrote the script pulled the Keywords tag in twice. Other than being really ugly HTML, it there any real SEO problem with this?  more

Voting Question: Which area of medical sales is the best way to go after I earn my degree?

Hello, I am 28 years old, in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, and back in school to finish my degree. After career & personality tests and much research, I'm seriously leaning towards a sales career in the medical business. I have about a year and a half left of school, and am considering attaining a Bachelors in Business Marketing. I've heard that the majority of successful medical sales reps are young, female, attractive and outgoing. (If that offends anyone, I apologize. It's not my personal opinion, since I obviously have not had any real world experience in the feild. It's the opinions of many of the professionals I've spoken to about my career path.) Yes, I do fall into that category however. How important that is to my questions depends on the person answering. Also, I realize this is a hard business to break into. That you have to know people to get in, but once you're in, you're in. (This pertains to one of my questions later.) My questions are as follows: 1) Out of all of the specfic fields in medical sales (i.e. pharmaceutical sales, laboratory sales, clinical diagnostics sales, DNA sales, medical supplies sales, medical equipment sales, imaging sales, etc.), what is the overall "best", in your opinion, and why? 2) In your opinion, what are the 3 best qualities and the 3 worst qualities of this position? 3) What Bachelors degree do you think would be best for your specific choice? 4) What experience do you have? 5) What type of work can I get into now, that will not only help me to gain business to business sales experience while attaining my degree, but possibly help me to get my foot in the door later (or give me the opportunity to network to help me get in the door later)? 6) Are there any type of certifications or accreditations that I could attain on the side while in school that will benefit my career or help me to land a job? 7) In your opinion, what are the best 2 or 3 companies in the DFW area to work for in your chosen specific area of medical sales? 8) What areas in medical sales are the least likely to be seriously affected by the economy with layoffs, etc. (Which has the best job security?) You'd REALLY help me out if you could answer any or all of my questions. If you are in one of these fields, when answering, it might help if you think about this: "If you could go back, do it all over again with the knowledge you have now, what would you do different? What would you tell your younger, inexperienced self to help you earlier in your career?" Thank you all in advance!! I REALY appreciate your help!!  more

Resolved Question: Assuming that embryonic stem-cell research in the future is now embryonic stem-cell use and research, what...?

...happens when the demand exceeds the supply. Currently in in vitro clinics those clients pay their private money. so is it legal to use something that is theirs for public use. Plus now companies pay money for women to donate eggs up to $1000+ and men get $50+ for sperm, so it is clearly not a purely donation based supply. Also on a personal note, I heard that egg donating isn't that pleasant. So what if the demand for embryonic stem cells exceeds the supply? Take blood for example, and people are not paid to donate blood. Often there is a shortage of blood. So how does the medical community plan on obtain more embryonic stem cells? Obviously it would be impractical to pay women and men to come in, and will people really volunteer to do it  more

Resolved Question: An interesting idea? (feedback wanted)?

I recently had what I thought was a very good idea about how to rapidly stimulate any 3rd-world nation's economy and set off a period of rapid growth. It's a very simple plan actually. Imagine a Newman's Own business model on gigantic proportions. Basically have some venture invest a few billion dollars into a national conglomerate that produces cheap, essential needs (basic medical supplies, bikes, cheap food, simple technology, etc...). Now any profit the company makes, and if this is run well it should make a lot of profit, will go directly into building and rebuilding the nations infrastructure (education, power, hospitals, transportation yada yada yada) Hopefully these project's construction and maintenance will be done by local companies which would further produce more jobs. All this, along with the government's coropartion and low business taxes, as any 3rd world nation should have, would increase foriegn investment and finally lift most of the nation out of poverty. And while this would work faster in some places than others, but the result would eventually be the same. And as for the intial investers, whomever or whatever they be? They could slowly cut back on the amount of profit they give to the country as the country's wealth increases until they have not only become very profitable but also have a created a new markert and have the graditude of a nation. To me, at least, it sounds like a very do-able and interesting sort of charity/experiment. I hope some billionares are reading.  more

I hope some billionares are reading. to Cthulhu fhtagn!: I agree that a (very) corrupt government would derail the project. However if the project has even an inkling of promise, the politicans would be mad to not protect the company if they want their jobs. Also if the company pays all employees a livable wage (again this is partly charity, and shouldn't be to hard to do) an employee would have to be crazy to steal when there are hundreds of thousands of people who would take their job. Again with politics, would politicans be crazy enough to tax the corporation when it would be funding a majority of its infrastructure. Lastly, I would file this project more under charity than an investment. I wouldn't promise investors a full return, but a rather an opportunity to go down in history as part of one of the greatest social experiments of all time.  more

Resolved Question: Can someone put this into layman's terms for me?

My husband and I have an appointment with the reproductive endocrinologist next week. I submitted an inquiry to the insurance company to find out what exactly the cover and here was my response: Per your benefits booklet on page 25: Infertility Services As a HealthSelect participant you may be eligible for infertility services which may include, diagnostic laboratory and x-ray procedures, therapeutic injections and surgical treatment necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of involuntary infertility. Covered services do not include sterilization reversal, transsexual surgery, gender reassignment, artificial insemination and related services, intrafallopian transfer, or in vitro fertilization. Also excluded from coverage are any services or supplies used in any procedures performed in preparation for or immediately after any of the above-referenced excluded procedures. Of course, the patient must be covered on the date of service to be eligible for benefits. This is not a guarantee of coverage or payment and all claims are subject to medical necessity and contract limitations So, what does that include? Am I in good shape? Where would IUI be included? Sorry so many questions, this will be our first appt with the RE. I'm sure they will go over this with us but I was just wanting a head's up. Thanks guys!  more

Resolved Question: How does this Stimulus Bill Help ME?

I see where it gives the unemployed a chance to extend their benefits, gives people getting food stamps more money, $2 billion for child-care subsidies, $83 billion for earned income credit for people who don't pay income tax, $600 million for new cars for the government fleet, the Smithsonian is getting $150 million (not sure why) and more. Seems it's helping the people who have been getting help more than it's helping the people who now need help. I thought the whole package was supposed to help the middle class. I'll explain, I'm a Realtor (yes I chose the job, but others chose their jobs too. ie: autoworkers, insurance companies etc... and they got bailed out). My income last year was severely depleted. My husbands pay was reduced and we have 3 children. We pay taxes, medical, dental and vision insurance premiums, car and home owner's insurance, school field trips, lunches, supplies, the list goes on. We don't run to the dr. every time we have a hang nail, no emergency room visits, no EXTRAS. No eating out, movies, cable, vacations etc... So, again, how does this help me, my husband, our kids? It doesn't. Thanks for the input. I'm not looking for a check, but I'd love to be able to find part or full-time work in the mean-time. I was hoping the Stimulus Bill would actually add new jobs. I was thinking of applying at the Smithsonian for janitorial work, they need to do something with all that extra money, maybe they're hiring KCK, I'll take the sympathy. When we were looking for our own home our agent sent us to a lender that said we could afford up to a $210,000 house, so that's what the agent showed us. We kept arguing and saying no, we had 3 kids, daycare, the kids decided they liked to eat. We finally fired the agent and found one who would listen. I made the decision to get into real estate to help stop that from happening. My first year I sold 24 homes, my first 3 to friends and the rest were referrals because they knew I was working for them, not for the extra $45 commission another $10,000 in house would get me.  more

Resolved Question: Can I be billed for durable medical goods several years after service?

My mom has used a Durable Med company to supply her CPAP machine/supplies for several years. The company had billing problems, and figured out they had not been billing insurance company for several years. Now, they are telling my Mom that she is responsible for over $1000; they never sent her any bills or statements, and are unable to provide such now. They told her that it is not their responsibility to bill the insurance company. Can they legitimately bill her (first notice) several years after service was performed?  more

Voting Question: Resume question.. how much to list?

I have my BSc in Biology (graduated 2006/07) and am only now applying to a job in my "field". I have worked with a Medical Supplies company since graduating and have been on Maternity Leave for the past year. I am just wondering how much job experience to list on my resume. Technically I don't have any experience in my field. However because I've been a student my whole adult life, I have had many jobs (whether they were summer jobs, or part time jobs.. which changed every year). How far back should I list my jobs? Should I leave "good" ones from earlier, and get rid of ones that aren't as impressive... if I do that, it looks as though I have gaps in my work history. Any advice would be much appreciated!!  more
