I want to be able to record audio while I record video using Xfire. The Xfire website says that I should update my audio drivers so that I can enable Full-Duplex Audio (playback and record audio at the same time). Open Question: What is causing my xbox 360 to freeze?

My xbox had been freezing every once in a while but it has recently become very constant. I can't even last over 15 minutes on any game without it freezing. I have tried playing it without the hard drive but it still freezes. I'm really getting frustrated with xbox 360s because this is the 3rd one microsoft has sent me and it was actually brand new. When I got it the manufacturer's date was a little over a month when i received it. I sent in my first xbox for repair because it started scratching disks. My second one started freezing just like this one is. When I picked it up to take out the hard drive I heard something loose inside of it. I'm not sure if that is normal or nut but it sounds like its on the left side of the dvd drive or somewhere near it.I have never had the RROD but I heard that this were the signs that you are about to get it. Luckily I got an extended warranty from microsoft so I can still get it repaired. Also, I only got about six months of warranty left can I buy more warranty from microsoft? If I can't I don't think ill be able to ever play my xbox 360 without fear of it breaking when my warranty runs out. more

Open Question: Frozen items in refrigerator, but not everything froze. Whats up?

I woke up this morning and found that my eggs had frozen in their shells in the fridge, but that items next to them (A jar of pickled beets) had not frozen. These were on the top shelf. Likewise, on the bottom shelf, my pitcher of Iced tea is frozen completely solid, but the jug of milk next to it doesn't even have frost in it. I am a bit confused. My fridge is a freezer on to model, and the setting is only slightly colder then the manufacturer setting. The air moves very freely, my fridge is nearly empty! The freezer is on top, which is why it confuses me that my iced tea froze (its on the bottom shelf) also, the milk, right beside it, did not freeze. more

I want to start a lingerie business, focusing only on brides so it would be more of a bridal lingerie business. I need some advice on getting the bras and underwears made. I have designed lots and have the materials etc all set out as how i want them to be, but its the actual making im having trouble with. Ive tried looking for bra manufacturers but had no luck. How can i get the lingerie made? I was thinking of getting a few samples made first to show my clients and after that see how it goes, rather than getting loads made and then not being able to sell them. My daughter is asking for a game console. She's 5. I went to local store and they suggested Gamecube at a good start with lots of games for the younger children. I Yahooed it and there's lots of places you can buy memory and get emulators for it. First question. Open Question: Way to fix magnetic cabinet doors?

I purchased an entertainment center used for a good price, but there is a slight problem with the glass doors. The doors are the type you press in and they pop open. On the cabinet itself, its a rod-like piece that goes in and out depending if it is pressed. At the tip is a magnet. On the door there is just a piece of metal for the magnet to attach to. One door is missing its bottom magnet piece, and another door has a defective magnet piece where the magnet no longer sticks to the metal piece on the door. I'm trying to contact the manufacturer to get replacement magnets, but in case that fails, what would be a good way to fix my doors? I must have forgot to mention I purchased this at a garage sale. There is no "store" to take this back to. more

Open Question: What do you think of this bit of writing about selfishness?

I became aware of the philosophy of selfishness when I was a teenager. A friend of mine was helping me do something, when I told her how much I appreciated it she told me, "You don't have to thank me, I only did it because it makes me feel good." This was confounding to my young mind. I had never realized before that when someone helps someone else, they may actually only be satisfying an internal craving; just the same as we all do when we eat because we are hungry, or sleep when we are tired. For a while this made me disillusioned when it comes to doing good deeds. After all, how can you do a "good" deed if you always acting selfishly anyway, even when helping someone? This leads to another interesting question, is someone that accepts a gift other than the endorphins his brain releases after he helps someone a selfish person? (Rhetorical) Again only recently, selfishness popped up in my economics class. Adam Smith speaks of the "Invisible Hand" as the true driving force in a market economy. Is it not profound that people acting selfishly could actually drive our entire economy? That chair you are sitting in, It was probably invented by someone who made it so he could selfishly have a more comfortable seat, or to selfishly make a job easier etc. Chairs are made today by manufacturers that sell them, selfishly, for-profit on the market. Customers go out and , once again, acting in self interest, purchase and use chairs at a personal profit. This is amazing to me. Selfishness, which many people regard as something negative, actually does so many "good" things! Parts of the bible teach altruism, but sorry folks, altruism may just be an illusion! Now of course, you are probably thinking of what I have been thinking of. Is all altruistic behavior actually selfish behavior? I struggle to think of examples that are not. I think of a father jumping into a flooded raging river to rescue his drowning son or other drowning child, or for that matter any creature (although I want to go into the misfiring empathetic systems that may make him jump in for another creature, I won't:P). Even though he knows he may die, he altruistically does it anyway......because he selfishly wants his son/other person/animal to live. I struggle to think of any altruistic behavior that is not selfish. Really I struggle to think of ANY behavior at all that is not selfish. Think of a man robbed at gunpoint and forced up his wallet. At first he may hesitate, because he may wonder if he has other options, such as to fight or what have you and the opportunity cost (what he will be losing if he gives up his wallet) is still very high. But as the gunman becomes more and more insistent, waving his gun in the face of the one he is assailing, the man being robbed probably becomes more afraid and his other options start falling off the plate. Selfishly choosing to give up your wallet in order to lose that fear and regain your safety is something most of us would do. Or perhaps he would selfishly fight to defend his life. Isn't this an odd way to see things? But is it not true? I do not believe I am misinterpreting things. It still kind of flips me in the head to think that everyone could be acting selfishly all the time, but... I am too. Selfishness is not always bad, really I don't know if I could ever be angry at someone for being selfish without being a hypocrite. more

To fix the problem; 1) Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2) Choose your language settings, and click "next". 3) Click repair your computer. Open Question: Can someone recommend a good custom desktop computer building company? I have very specific requirements.?

I've been really excited about the AMD Phenom II x2 3.1GHz processor, but not many computer manufacturers offer this chip. I have long been a fan of AMD over Intel, but if someone can make a really compelling case on an Intel chip, I would be willing to listen. This will be a gaming PC. Here are some of the other things I am looking for: 1. Solid state drive as primary hard drive. I would like to run the operating system and most everyday programs off this drive. I'm thinking around 80-160 gigs will be sufficient with a 500 gig or so standard (hdd) for media, etc. 2. The computer must run quiet! My current rig sounds like a chainsaw at its worst, which drives my wife crazy. I promised the next system would run smooth quietly. 3. Cost should be a major consideration. I'd like to cap costs at $1500, but ideally less than $1000 (system only necessary, no monitor, keyboard, software besides Windows 7 beta). 4. End result should be a system capable of running current games at impressive settings. I don't need my eyeballs to melt, but I don't want to be annoyed at shoddy performance. Please suggestion manufacturers capable of implementing these kinds of requests for a reasonable price. It would help if I could get specific examples + prices. I once thought that Boeing aircraft gave complete control to the pilot, as opposed to Airbus aircraft, which are almost completely controlled by computer, but my uncle who has a military background (and a massive obsession with airplanes!) says that these days, Boeing have almost as much fly-by-wire technology as Airbus does. This has now confused me! Because with the recent crash of AF 447, media coverage has said that the pilots don't appear to have switched off the autopilot to fly the plane manually. So even in a fly-by-wire plane, is there still an element of manual control? I'm a girl and I really don't know much about these things so please be patient with me! Does anyone know what the deal is with these two manufacturers? There's no particular reason why I'm asking - I think I've definitely inherited my uncle's interest in flying, that's all! more

I have always been able to play the Sims 2 on my computer I am currently using. I have played it many times, and then got bored of it and then uninstalled it. Recently, I've rekindled my interest in playing the game, only to find that my disc is scratched and corrupted, so I downloaded the disc and everything works and installs perfectly, almost like a dream come true... Then the nightmare happens. The Sims 2 starts up, and it's just about to go to the main loading screen, the grin on my face widens ... and then... BOOM! An error message. "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate." TERMINATE? WTF! Okay, don't panic. I'm familiar with this error message, and similar ones like this and have been able to resolve it in the past with a quick download update of Direct X and a re-installation of my driver. (I have a Radeon 7200 and I match the strenuous list of requirements that the Sims 2 asks of me to have) and yet, I still get this error message. So far, I'm positive it has nothing to do with the actual game, and something to do with the innards and complexity of my graphics card and this so called enemy of his, "DirectX 9.0c". Any solutions for me that actually work? I've been surfing forums and trying every thing in the universe, I just want to know what changed since the last time I used the Sims 2 and now and how I can fix this. I'll repeat that my computer has always worked with the Sims 2 and that I shouldn't have to go out and buy things. Nice try though. Resolved Question: Can anyone tell me why paint manufacturers seem to have no logic.?

A small tin of paint which may well be used in one go has a rigid metal lid so that if it is resealed it can easily be reopened. A large tin of paint which almost certainly will be resealed has a stupid flexible plastic lid which is impossible to lever open once it has been resealed. You go round and round with various different implements until you feel like throwing it out the window. PAINT TIN DESIGNERS PLEASE EXPLAIN???????? I know I can put the lid back on easily. I didn't ask that. Try getting a flexible edged lid off again a month or two later - all it does is bend so you can't lever it off. Yes mt03 ben but the containers are metal - it's only the lid that's plastic. I'm talking about Sandtex specifically and the container is metal. more

I'm getting a new desktop computer soon, and I'm looking for one that is cheap yet has good graphics to cater for the high-end games I want to get (which currently don't run on my laptop). I'm looking for a suitable graphics card that is cheap yet powerful. However, I'm not asking for which graphic card I should, I can work that out myself. But I'm confused on what are the high-end and the low-end graphics cards, because I don't know which one is which. I'm going to get either a ATI Radeon or a Nvidia, but I do not know how they are rated. I know the higher the number in the ATI Radeon the better it is, but I don't know how it is affected by a suffix such as X (e.g X1200). I'm looking for a list of graphics card models from each manufacturer (or a good explanation), from which it is descending order in performance. I really want to get the right graphics card, so I want to know for example, is the ATI 4000 series better than the 3000, or is GeForce better than standard, or what series is the most powerful ATI or whatever.
