Open Question: What degree best suits me?

Im thinking about going to Uni to study something computer based. I've been a avid computer user since i was very young and it seems like the obvious career move. I mainly enjoying using tools such as Flash and PS. Hobby wise i make animation shorts and use photoshop to create different things like avatars and desktop wallpapers. Im also into building websites, although i mainly use basic wordpress templates then edit them myself using WinSCP. Career wise i think i would suit the 9 till 5 working week, and i dont mind being mainly office based. I have looked into many different ways of making money without being involved with a company and the building and sale of websites/landing pages sounds very appealing. Currently im a barman, and have been involved in the catering industry since i was 14 and hate it. I would definately say that i have had enough of serving the general public. Whilst working at my local i have been working from home to generate some extra income by designing banners and flash advertisements for small-time websites, as well as dabbling within the affiliate marketing sector. I was thinking that i would suit a web design course, but im worried about the amount of coding involved. Any ideas?  more

Open Question: If I am reading this right the book of Acts says Christians must be communists?

Acts 4:32 32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. 34-37 34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. 5:1-4 1Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. 3Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." So why do Christians get involved in democracy ?  more

Voting Question: Do Ministers Yapa and DeSilva know that their “former” UNP think is not appropriate in Sri Lanka?

http://www.colombopage.com/archive_091/Jul1246466253JV.html I hope that the public is aware that it is the Ranil UNP that floated this plan for stricter media controls. The Media Minister does not run the media or the country, either does the Health Minister. Apparently, there has been a long standing plan hatched by the UNP that involves illegal sand mining to a point where we will have an environmental disaster since these areas are currently occupied by mostly Tamil and Muslim communities – again under UNP directives they will face the most loss. It will cause another spate of terrorism because the peoples will feel powerless once again and their lives will be not considered once again. I certainly can speak for Nilaweli and I will. It is not the job of politicos to part out the country as if she was a beast of burden put to slaughter – we did not win the war to have our lands destroyed. The media must operate in a manner outside of the FMM scenario created by Ranil but it must operate in a manner that shows journalistic integrity and ethics. I do not believe this eminates from the president for our proforma had much more to do with creating a dedicated media village, reference library and full fledged national university so that investigative journalism along with media responsibility, integrity and accuracy could be forwarded. Minister Yapa has been toting his own agenda and speaking of it as if it were the government agenda for months. Worldwide we have seen these wanna-be power brokers behaving in the same fashion. After several years of witnessing this has gotten old – yes the world is watching and the world is remembering when the same tricks were played on them, "A quality media culture should be created in the country, as there were instants where media institutions did their reporting neglecting common interests of the society in the recent past," he said. Sri Lanka has no interest in returning to the Ranil/Chandrika fiasco for it was a murderous one. We have no interest in providing seed money for the destruction of our own lands. I certainly have every right to speak for Nihaweli and I am doing so. I ask that Wimal, Champika, Mr. Siresena, Karuna and others do so also. The UNP government under Ranil has done much harm to the country. The Media minister has portrayed his own plans as plans of the president or of the country. It is not in collective social interest to do extensive unregulated mining of sands for the benefit of Japan, The reality is these same people who bombed Trincomalee are still around on their last legs and they have no interest environmentally or otherwise for Sri Lanka. I understand that Mrs. Rao is assuming the post of Foreign Secretary and hope that she does so in the very near future. Sri Lanka is not the personal playground of Foreign Ministers et al that have supported LTTE as a convenient agenda item to push their own illegal policies. Minister Yapa's approval of cabinet memos have no bearing on whether they will gain cabinet approval - he certainly does not run the executive cabinet or the BOI. Lanka Putra, here is the answer to your question. "Mineral sand mining to commence in Nilaweli, Mullaitivu by Zacki Jabbar The coastal land area from Nilaveli to Mullaithivu is to be reserved exclusively for Lanka Mineral Sands Limited(LMSL), to explore and mine heavy beach mineral sands. Media Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said that land reservation for the project has been approved by the Cabinet on a proposal by Industrial Development Minister Kumara Welgama. LMSL will enter into a joint venture with Stork Handelsges of Austria to ensure a constant and uninterrupted flow of raw materials for the successful implementation of the project. Since LMSL was established in 1960, operations were limited to mining and processing of ilmanite, rutile and zircon,he said . Voting Question: Republicans, if I was running for public office would you consider voting for me?

I am a democrat, but a moderate, not a liberal. Below are issues where i either partially or fully agree with the republicans. Gun Control: While I believe that guns should be kept out of the hands of dangerous criminals, I support the second amendment. Defend your home, go out and hunt, just be safe. I believe it is unnecessarily to tax guns and ammunition on top of the already existing state sales tax. Abortion: More pro life than pro choice. I do not believe that it should be outlawed fully, but believe that after the first few weeks, it should be outlawed due to the fact that the fetus is now conscious and feels the pain of the abortion. At this stage, it should be done only to save the life of the mother. Also, abortion should not be a free service, it should be a service you pay for, unless it is a case of rape, incest, or if the mother would die in child birth. This eliminates abortion as birth control and creates revenue for the government. Affirmative action: Harmful to true equality. Obama is wrong to support it. Military: Raise the salaries of our heroes and increase funding to troops in Afghanistan. Catching Bin Laden is a top priority. This is something I praise Obama for doing. Economy/stimulus money: Should be going specifically to education, tax cuts, pay raises for military personal, and public works projects for green energy jobs. Taxes: I will not now, nor will I ever support trickle down economics, Reaganomics etc. However, I would lower taxes on the wealthy. With trickle down, the working class cannot invest in themselves because they pick up the burden of the top five percent not paying taxes. However, if the rich are taxed at the high rate they are now, it is difficult for these companies to reinvest in new jobs. There can be a balance here. The wealthy would pay on no more than five percent of their income, and by wealthy I mean those making 150'000 plus a year. I would give tax credits to small businesses who offer health benefits to employees, and per employee hired. A low tax rate, combined with cutting wasteful spending will fund the stimulus money and may lead to a budget surplus. Immigration: If they get a visa, work for equal wages in the competitive market, they are welcome in my book. This is the land of opportunity. But, if they hop the fence and take American jobs for half pay, immediate deportation. No amnesty, and increase border patrol funding. An immigrant should not be eligible for workers compensation if they are not legal residents. I consider myself a moderate, blue dog democrat. A JFK democrat and Teddy Roosevelt progressive. I voted for Obama and generally approve of him, but do think there are some things he has done wrong. I can't see myself voting against him in 2012. Again, I am a democrat, just not a liberal. I voted for Bill Richardson in the NH primary. Above are the issues where I either partially or fully agree with the republicans. I support the democrats on all other issues, such as Iraq withdrawal, same sex marriage, health care reform, stem cell research, anti-torture, medicaid and medicare, and welfare (as long as it is temporary for laid off workers and not a way of life) Resistance, sorry, forgot your energy question. I support Nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy and clean coal. Resistance: I support free trade with free countries. Communist countries, such as China, Cuba, North Korea, etc should not be dealt with. However, companies that ship jobs overseas would not be eligible for tax cuts. As far as the drug war, all illegal drugs would stay illegal, except for medical Marijuana.  more

Voting Question: Here is how I balanced the California budget. What do you think?

I tried to be as fair as I could, but there is no way but to eliminate state expenses, and raise taxes to get California back in the green. If you would like to try to balance the budget for California, then click here: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-statebudget-fl,0,95571.htmlstory -------------------------------------------------------------- Tax Increases -- Broaden sales tax -- $1.1 billion The sales tax exempts many things. Extend it to services including repairs, veterinarians, amusement parks, tickets to sports events. Repay it with interest in three years Law Enforcement -- Early release -- $120 millin Release one-year early inmates who ahve no current or prior serious, violent or sex offenses on their records. Law Enforcement -- Illegal Immigrants -- $180 million Turn 19,000 illegal immigrants now in state prison over to federal custody for deportation. THINGS THAT THE USA SHOULD DO AS A TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON !!@@%%^^!! - Turn NEVERLAND into a Museum, tourist attraction and National Historic Landmark and place of remembrance and tribute for the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Just like how Graceland is a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley. I think both Kings deserve a piece of land for remembrance. PUT ALL OF MICHAEL’S BELONGINGS AND AWARDS ON DISPLAY INSIDE NEVERLAND RANCH - ERECT A STATUE of Michael Jackson in Los Angeles Hollywood Boulevard and Hollywood Star Area and in Neverland and in New York and in major cities WORLDWIDE to show that MJ influence reaches ALL 4 CORNERS OF THE GLOBE. - DESIGNATE THURSDAY 25TH JUNE (Michael’s death day) or AUGUST 29TH (Michael’s birth day) as the “OFFICIAL MICHAEL JACKSON DAY”. Michael Jackson street parades should be held every year in honour. - PRESERVE MICHAEL JACKSON’S BODY and set it on public display in Neverland for the PUBLIC AND FANS to see MJ for the LAST TIME and pay respect for 6 MONTHS. - Hold an ENORMOUS FUNERAL PROCESSION where MJ’s body would be carried in a transparent or opaque coffin around Los Angeles or from Los Angeles to New York and back again. - DESIGNATE OFFICIAL PLACES ALL OVER THE USA and ALL OVER THE WORLD where Fans can give their FLORAL and GIFT TRIBUTES TO MJ. Neverland Ranch is one place but not everybody can travel - SELL DVDs and CDs of Michael Jackson’s CONCERT PERFORMANCES (NOT MUSIC VIDEOS!!!) from his TV performances when he was 6 YEARS TO ALL HIS RECORDED LIVE PERFORMANCES from the Jackson 5 tour to the Destiny, Triumph, Victory, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory tours. I ALSO want DVDs of his Notable concerts in 1988 Bad Tour concerts in London and 1992 Dangerous Tour Live in Bucharest and all his Anniversary concerts and CHARITY CONCERTS and SUPERBOWL LIVE PERFORMANCE. Resolved Question: where the masacres of jews in arab lands prior to 1920 due to zionism?

In fact, in 17th-20th centuries, with exception of the Holocaust, Jews were persecuted far more in Muslim lands than in Europe. Things in Europe changed, in Muslim lands they stayed the same. In the 19th century there were many instances of forced conversions and massacres, usually inspired by the Shi'a clergy. A representative of the Alliance Israélite Universelle, a Jewish humanitarian and educational organization, wrote from Tehran in 1894: "every time that a priest wishes to emerge from obscurity and win a reputation for piety, he preaches war against the Jews". In 1830, the Jews of Tabriz were massacred; the same year saw a forcible conversion of the Jews of Shiraz. In 1839, many Jews were massacred in Mashhad and survivors were forcibly converted. The Jews of Tabriz and Shiraz continued to practice Judaism in secret despite a fear of further persecutions. Jews of Barforush were forcibly converted in 1866; when they were allowed to revert to Judaism thanks to an intervention by the French and British ambassadors, a mob killed 18 Jews of Barforush, burning two of them alive In 1910, the Jews of Shiraz were accused of ritually murdering a Muslim girl. Muslim dwellers of the city plundered the whole Jewish quarter. Twelve Jews, who tried to defend their property, were killed. Driven by persecutions, thousands of Persian Jews emigrated to Palestine in the late 19th early 20th century. There they met Jews fleeing from similar persecution in Eastern Europe Here is a description of a disgusting ritual done to Persian Jews (recorded by a 19th century European traveler): "At every public festival — even at the royal salaam [salute], before the Kings face — the Jews are collected, and a number of them are flung into the hauz or tank, that King and mob may be amused by seeing them crawl out half-drowned and covered with mud. The same kindly ceremony is witnessed whenever a provincial governor holds high festival: there are fireworks and Jews." 1790. Pogrom in Tetouan, Morocco. All Jews stripped naked, many women raped, most homes ransacked 1808. Mulay Suleiman orders Jews of Tetuan, Rabat, Sale, and Mogador into mellahs 1815. Jews of Mogador, Morocco ordered to pay sudden jizya poll-tax. Those who pay punched on the forehead after turning over coins, those who refuse thrown in dungeon 1830. Three quarters of Jews of Shiraz, Persia are converted to Islam by force 1830. Jews are massacred in Tabriz, Persia 1834. Suleika affair. Jewish woman from Tangier, Morocco refuses to convert and marry a high-ranking official. She is executed in Fez 1839. Jews of Meshhad, Persia are massacred. Survivors are forced to convert to Islam 1840. The Damascus Blood Libel. Father Thomas, a Franciscan superior, disappears. The French consul accuses a group of rabbis and other Jews of ritual murder and extracts a "confession" by torture in which one of the victims dies. Others, including sixty children, are arrested and starved to convince their parents to confess. Pogroms follow throughout the Middle East. Sir Moses Montefiore, Adolphe Cremieux and Salomon Munk intervene on behalf of the Jews and the charges are dropped. Sultan Abdul Mejid issues a Firman against blood libels. He unconditionally releases nine survivors of the Damascus libel. Four had already died 1859. War starts between Morocco and Spain. Massacre and plunder of the Jewish community of Tetuan. About 400 killed, the rest flee 1863. British Jewish philanthropist Sir Moses Montefiore visits Sultan Muhammad IV and requests equal rights for Jews. Sultan at first agrees, but after Montefiore's departure nullifies any change in status quo 1866. Jews of Barforush, Persia are forcibly converted, then allowed to revert to Judaism, then mob kills 18 Jews, burning two of them alive 1884-88. 307 Jews murdered over four years by Muslims in Morocco, yet no Muslims put on trial 1889. After anti-Jewish disturbances in Shiraz and Isfahan, Persia, new restrictions of food, dress, habits, inheritance, trade, etc. are put on Jews there 1903. 40 Jews killed by Muslims during riots in Taza, Morocco. More killed in Settat 1907. In Casablanca, Morocco 30 Jews killed, 200 women, girls and boys abducted, raped, then ransomed etc etc etc etc etc etc etc....  more

Resolved Question: How to approach a doctor with all of my symptoms?

How do I go about talking to a doctor about all my symptoms??? Just print out this list of problems I have (probably not even all of them here) and say "What's wrong with me, doc?" What do I say when scheduling the appointment? They usually ask for a quick description of why you are going. Like you think you have the flu or you might have a UTI. But I have NO idea what all of this is and how I can stop it. I'd be happy if I could even stop just some of these. Because I'm 19 and for so many years I have been in constant pain. And it's getting to me. Sometimes I just stop and fall to the ground and cry because of how young I am yet how much pain I feel everyday. But I haven't brought it up the the doctors yet because they never listen when I start saying my symptoms, they always interupt me and are rude. And I'm so uncomfortable about them I hate talking to them. --Migraines (basically continuous, headaches every single day, migraines at least 4 times a month) --At least 4 or 5 times a day I have to take a big breath in and breathe out deeply. Even when I am sitting down doing nothing. I'm just forced to take a deep breath. --I get cold-like-symptoms in heat at first. When entering a warm room or higher heat outside I start sneezing like crazy. I do this EVERYWHERE so it's not an allergy to one specific thing. This goes away within minutes usually. Though when I went from OH to AZ in the winter, I was sneezing constantly for over 2 hours after landing in the warmth. Lungs burning and everything. --I have cold-like symptoms probably at least 250 out of the 365 days of the year. Colds in the summer are more common than winter. --Sometimes it feels as if someone is squeezing my heart and it makes it difficult to breathe. --I have called it my stomach, but evidently it's below my stomach. Like kidneys and bladder or something. But I would get terrible stabbing and ripping out pains almost twice a week, which would leave me bed-ridden and in screaming pain. --I get UTI and yeast infections like I get paid to get them :/ It seems like it's almost constant. I would say almost once a month. The very least, once every two months. --I get dizzy a lot --Nauseous a lot --Memory loss (not really severe, but it's affected my work and personal life negatively) --I don't do too well in the sun. Start having trouble breathing and get dizzy and whatnot. --Hyper ventilating problems. --Loss of interest in stuff. --Loss of interest in sex --I have problems falling asleep --Every single night I wake up in the middle of the night between 3-4 am (for at least 2 months, now) --Sometimes I get the feeling like someone is squeezing my lungs and I have difficulty breathing. --Bad stomach problems --When I know I'm going somewhere without a toilet near (like a park) or when I go out in public where there will be people (like a party or something) I get really nervous that I won't have a bathroom near and I will have to go, so my stomach starts hurting and I have to go to the bathroom like 7 times before I leave to go places. --I've been very on-edge lately and cranky/depressed. --Random mood spurts where one moment I will be crazily hyper and in a good mood, and others (after hearing a non-nice comment or something) I instantly go to a bad mood and get all b*tchy. --Randomly I get VERY hot, then moments later I get VERY cold, and so on and so forth. --When I was younger I would always get strep throat. Like at least twice a year. Now if I get them, they go untreated. --I recently went to the doctor and got diagnosed with a bad UTI and bad yeast infection after the UTI. The urine came back that I had a ridiculous amount of Protein in it. And 100,000 colonies of e. coli grew overnight in it. And my urine is always cloudy and foamy. Has been for a while. I researched high protein levels and evidently those two things are symptoms, too. --I get very nervous easily lately. Ex- My bf and I stopped at a "bog" trail. It was surrounded by trees, weeds and such and the bridge/path was very narrow. Normally, I love nature and want to stay in it longer. But a motorcycle guy drove up right after we got out of my car and started walking by my car. So 1/4 the way through I started freaking out that maybe the guy was stealing my car (with my purse in it). So I started breathing heavily and walking fast and basically freaking out. Another thing is After Thanksgiving Day Sales, every time we were in the long lines waiting, I had to stop and get out of line a few times because I got overheated and couldn't breathe and I had the feeling like I had to go to the bathroom constantly. -Sometimes I don't feel like eating for days on end. For two weeks recently I actually had to force myself to eat because I just didn't feel hungry. I lost almost 15 pounds that two weeks.  more

Voting Question: Why is "profit on sale of land" considered non-operating cash flow but "cash received from sale of land" not?

My CFA guide book says that "profits on sale of land" is considered financing cash flow, but "cash received from sale of land" is considered operating cash flow. I understand they're both calculated in the net income, but I dont understand why cash received from sale of land is considered operating cash flow and profits not?  more

Voting Question: Rezoning land as buildable lot?

On a ad for a lot for sale, it said that the land is not buildable now and to try to get the lot rezoned as a buildable lot. What does that mean? From the picture it looked buildable. It's in Maryland if that helps any. Thanks!  more

I'm in sales and I have many "prospects" call in all the time asking questions about our product and then you can NEVER reach them again because the number isn't in service when I dial back. Then sometimes they'll call back months later from that same number and it's still not in service when I try it again. I can't tell if it's a land-line or cell number. How are they doing this?  more

Resolved Question: Are the beautiful people living in Israel? And are the beautiful women in Israel awaiting my visit?

So, I was told by an Israeli girl I met in a shopping mall this weekend. I am from Boston and she is from Tel Aviv. I noticed her Star of David on her necklace and I showed her mine. I am an ethnic Jew in the process of converting. She works at one of those carts that the people sell creams and lotions from the Dead Sea. There is a group of these people selling the wares from their carts. The men approach the ladies and this girl approached me as well as other male customers in the mall. She had a slight foreign accent but seemed to have the behavior of a gypsy. It was a bizarre scene, like something out of a movie. She would glance at me side ways and smirk. "You must go to Israel,"she said. "But do not bring wife or girlfriend. No, no, no. You must go alone and meet girls of Israel. Very beautiful people, beautiful women that are fantastic." I told her that there are many beautiful women right here in America. "Hahahahaha!" she laughed. "Come to Israel. You do not know what love awaits you until you have been there. You do not know what the true love of a woman for a man is until you have experienced the love of a true Israeli woman." I remember the words, as well as her "come hither" gestures with her hands as she was describing this to me. Her black eyes staring at me with side ward glance. The dimples of her olive skinned face perking up in my direction. Her ruby red lips parting with this strangely seductive accent. I had to get back to work. I was on my break and had to get back. She was quickly off selling creams and lotions to other men. Would anyone care to share with me what she meant by the beautiful women of Israel? More beautiful than American women? That I would not know what love is until I fall in love with an Israeli woman? Was this Israeli saleswoman pulling my leg, or what? She was selling wares from the Middle East. However she made a rather arresting sales pitch for a middle aged man like myself to suddenly become curious about making a pilgrimage to Israel. To see the Holy Lands and, perhaps, bring home a bride. I would not be going for just the women. But this girl did spark an interest that I had never thought of. An American man finding love in Israel. Would a marriage between an American ethnic Jew and an Israeli woman work out? I may have found a further inspiration to convert to Judaism. I have dated many American Jewish women and seem to prefer them. I wonder if there is any truth to what this girl told me.  more
